So my husbands little sister is due in 2 weeks, and she just announced to everybody (the day we found out we're having a boy, supposed to be named Alexander James) that she's naming her baby Shawn James (James after MY HUSBAND)...and now I am absolutely freaking out. We were dead set on James, but I do NOT want to name it the same as her baby (even though it IS only a middle name), and I am stressing so much that I won't find another name that flows as well as James. Please help :/

His name was supposed to be Alexander James Wilkerson

Cole, Nathaniel, Ethan, Zane, Piers, Orion....EDIT: forgot Harris

I really want something more traditional (since we will be calling him Xander) but we have a few "strange" names there because they have some kind of meaning to us....

I like Alexander Michael... but I have a friend named Xander Michael so thats probably why I like it

Oh I forgot Harris is another choice....UGH I forget things so often lately...

LOL I did consider Michael a little too, that's funny...my husband didn't seem to like it so much though. :/

If your using James after you husband, and shes using james after him too

maybe you can switch yours up and used Alexander Jameson!
if your dont like Alexander Jameson, i like Alexander Cole

I actually mentioned Jameson to my husband but he doesn't like it....his name is actually Jesse, but HIS middle name is James.....I think my husband just doesn't like how the two sons (Jameson Wilkerson) sound together.

Alexander is a long name. I think I like cole because it's short. And especially with the long last name. it kind of makes it not such a mouthful.

I think James Alexander sounds very cute....and you could still call him Xander. My brother's name is George Brandon, but he has always gone by Brandon.
I also like Andrew Alexander, orjust Drew Alexander,but I know, I'm not helping matters when you want his first name to be Alexander. Sorry!My sons name is Wyatt Keegan, and personally, I think Alexander Keegan would be very cute. (Course there are several ways to spell it, but you get my point!)

Make sure to keep us posted as to what you choose!!! I love baby naming....even though it never seems like you're going to agree on that perfect name. LOL But once you have it......it just seems so right.

I think that is a very good question....maybe you or your husband should alk to her and se eif you can get her to understand how important it is to you guys for your son to have his fathers name....even if it is his middle name!

I'm a dork, I just realized that I suggested to you James Alexander.....not realizing that you said your sister in law is using it.....I don't know what I was thinking. But it is very cute. And if she absolutely will not budge on naming her son James, even though they have the same name, your son will be going by Xander, but yet his father's name will still be part of him. I think if you should use it no matter what....but I know exactly how you feel. When I was pregnant with my first son, before we knew he was a boy, I was dead set on a girl and we thought out a name, and of course told everyone. Well as soon as we found out we were having a boy, my cousin found out she was having a girl, and stole my name. I was so upset, it's been 6 years, and I'm still a little peeved that she did that, but there's nothing I can do about it now I guess. I have a few new names picked out now, and nobody gets to know until I'm pregnant, and I know I'm having a girl!!!

I like Alexander Cole..its very cute.

Maybe I'm lost but I don't understand why you can't still use the middle name. There arefive people in my husband's family with the middle name Edward, one of them being one of our sons and it was an honor to keep up a tradition of keeping a name in the family.

i also like alexander joel. or alexander zane.
