Your girls are very cute but they should be rear facing.

If you have questions please pm me.

You are breaking the rules of your car seats which means that if a car crash were to happen the car seat company would take no liabilty and so will the insurance company. They will not pay for anything on your girls if they were hurt. ALso it is safer to be rear facing and may very well be a law in your state. If it is and you get pulled over they can charge you with child neglect weather it be a ticket or if the cop fells like being a jerk he has the right to take your children (I just want you to know what can happen)

It can hurt them if you are in a crash. If you are it hard enough it can cause internal decapitation (sorry strong word but it is the worst thing that can happen and it has before)

Here are links and videos of the benefits of extended rear facing. The American Pediatrics Association also now say child should remain rear facing to the limits on the convertible car seat.

By law (in almost every state) a child must be rear facing to at least 1 year and 20 lbs, but this does not mean you MUST turn them at that time.

Most people are concerned about their child's legs being scrunched or broken in a crash. There is absolutely no evidence that shows a child's legs are in danger and I would much rather deal with a broken leg, than a broken neck.

In Sweden the children rear face until 4-5 years old by law. Some other places also do. They have the lowest rate of children deaths in car crashes. The us has the highest rate.

I hope all this info helps if you have any questions please ask me.

Here is rear facing photos of children at all different ages.
http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/RFAlbum.aspx

All the safety experts say it's safest for a child to rear face as their spine is not strong enough to protect the spinal cord if they are forward facing. It's not strong enough because the vertebrae are in pieces joined by cartilage. The vertebral arch has not fused into a complete circle of bone, which will enclose and protect the spinal cord

In the first picture there is a cervical vertebrae for a one-year old (left), and beside it a cervical vertebrae for a 6 year old (right). Note that the 1-yr old's vertebrae is still in pieces.

In the 2nd picture, thoracic vertebrae for a 1 yr old (left) and for a 6 yr old (right). Note that the 1-yr old's vertebrae is still in pieces

In the 3rd picture, lumbar vertebrae for a 1 yr old (left) and for a 6 yr old (right). Note that the 1-yr old's vertebrae is still in pieces

And now on to videos. They look like the same videos until you turn them on. They have some of the same pictures and for some reason all show the same pictures but watch them all. Crash tests of rear and forward facing and also a few on reasons to rear face longer with quotes from car safety and other experts. On the rear facing dummy you will see what looks like tape holding the head but that is something that if it breaks the child as went to far and the car seat fails the test and must be looked at and they need to find out why it broke.

Here is also the rule on your seat

Deluxe high-back belt-positioning booster for your child 22-100 lbs. Use the 5-point harness system for up to 65 lbs!

• Forward-facing 22-65 lbs

The weights were taken right off their website. You daughters are only 19 lbs not 22lbs

Ine more thing the straps need to be a little tighter and the CHEST clip needs to be at arm pit level not at the belly. It is a chest clip not a belly clip. I just want your babies safe. I will be a certified as a car seat tech next month (just need to take my test)

I would get a new doctor, your doctor is an idiot
Do some research on the law
and they can not support themselves if they were to get in a car wreck
Rear facing is the way to go!

2.  Q:  When can i turn my child around?
A:  Infants should ride rear-facing until at lest 1 year old AND 20lbs.  It is recommended to
continue keeping the child rear-facing until the rear-facing weight limits of the sear are
reached.  Rear-facing child safety seats should NEVER be placed in front of an airbag.

CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY LAW

But that's the thing. It WILL hurt them if they get into a wreck. The LAW states 20 lbs AND 1 year at least for a reason. I don't understand what is so hard about abiding about that.

You are stupid and ignorant, just as much as the original poster for having an 8 month old sitting forward facing. As a parent it is YOUR responsinility to follow the laws and do the research to know what can happen to your child if you were in an accident. You and the OP are doing a HUGE disservice and injustice to your child. You put them in danger EVERYTIME you put them in their car seat forward facing.

Darlenes Mommy posted some VERY valuable information. Why don't you take some time and educate yourself on the safety of your child, because you obviously have not done that.

It sickens and saddens me when parents are uneducated about the safety of their child, especially car seat safety. I feel bad for your daughter and the danger you put her in everyday when you drive with her forward facing.

Thank you for posting all of this valuable information. I watched all of the videos again, and this just reinforces why my 20 month old still sits rear facing. BECAUSE IT"S THE SAFEST!

I don't know how any parent can watch these videos and STILL think their child is safe forward facing at 8 months old.

Thank you!

I know you love Trinity so why would you put her life in danger? I thought I read somewhere that you said she was tiny so how much does she weigh exactly?
