Any vegetarians?

posted 21st Aug
So, I'm not craving meat at all.... in fact the mere thought of eating it makes me feel sick to my stomach. Before I was never too crazy about beef and pork but would still enjoy chicken, turkey, and fish.... but now I am wanting none of it. I've been eating non-fat yogurt, eggs (on occasion), beans, nuts, cheese, milk... I know tuna is high in protein but I have been avoiding it completely due to its high mercury content. But what else are good food choices for protein that are safe while being pregnant? Any one else in the same boat as me? With my first 2, my food choices didn't change this drastically.

Ugh. I'm like a vegetarian now. I'm only craving sweets and yeah, thinking about it or looking at it in the fridge makes me sick. Now I'm severely limited in the foods I can eat until we can go shopping again.

Tuna is fine to eat once a week...

You could eat tofu... edamame... any fresh water fish is safe (and high in protein and DHA)..

I am kind of having a brain fart.. I can't think of anything else ATM.. I have not been a big meat eater lately either..

Tofu and beans.

Thats where I got most of my protein when I was a vegan and a vegetarian.

Im a vegetarian for 7 years now. I love it. Vegetarian food is just as good..no wait BETTER than meat. I never craved meat once while i was pregnant. I dont eat fish or any seafood or chicken. My son came out fine for me being a vegetarian. Heck he was even late..lol..I had to be induced (i doubt being a vegetarian had anything to do with that.) Sidney was 7 pounds 15 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.

I had just started my venture into the vegan world. I loved it, but soon after became pregnant, and bounced back. Though I still dont eat certain things, I loved the lifestyle.I would eat veggie burgers, and New York has the best vegan restaurants, so I was in heaven. Places like Red Bamboo that serve vegan pork chops, and vegan ribs, and vegan creole chicken. My man would tease me when I told him about the food.

Anyway, Chinese food, such as Veggie Lo Mein, or Veggie Fried Rice. Various pastas with vegetables, Veggie pizza with wheat crust. Rice and beans. The nutrionist told me that me being a vegan is fine, just take my iron pills and eat pumpkin seeds since I didnt eat meant.

I'm not able to do pasta either.... I get really really tired after eating it (always have) and since I've never liked the taste, I don't eat it. Lol... don't I sould incredibly picky?! I will have to look into iron pills too, I do eat a lot of spinach for my salads but I will look into if I'm getting enough. Thanks! Pumpin seeds are a good idea too! Yumm!

I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (on wheat) everyday for lunch! Lol.. Isn't that insane? I feel like a little kid again! I never tried kale, I don't know what it is but I have it written down to check into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for all the tips! How do you eat your tofu? I tried it once and didn't like it at all. But of course, I tried cooking it myself, lol. I cooked it in a frying pan with light spray oil. I didn't know I could eat tuna. I was told to avoid it. Maybe I misunderstood.

Basically everything makes me sick...I can choke down a bagel but fish? meat??? no way!! no eggs either...oh I think I just threw up in the back of my thought! But at the health food store I found Gummy Omegalicious by Rainbow light for my kids and I have been eating them while pregnant since no real food is staying down! They have DHA, EPA vitamin C and Lycopene......this company has lots of products like this that may help you get the nutrition you need! I know they are a life saver for me!
