Will i live without one?

I am a first time mother and extremely fascinated by the amount of pointless things made 'just for baby'. A lot of things i know for a fact we can do without...and i am all about sticking to the basics.
What i was wondering about were the mobiles that hang above the crib...Super cute, but necessary?
Is this something that i will want to have or something i can live without?
Any advice?

There is a lot of pointless crap out there and a lot of things I bought were never used.

But if you plan on breastfeeding, I'd definitely get a boppy.

Edited: Sorry, I'm a dork, I thought you were asking about general things you would need. I don't personally think a mobile is necessary.

No it isn't nessasary, although it made it alot easier for my kids to fall asleep. But they didn't have them back in the day and kids did just fine...lol. You will find what little tricks work for you.

That I could not live without.

Its not necessary but my son will lay there and watch it as long as I will let him, helps me get a lot done.

they're not necessary, but my babies still love them.it helped keep my guy entertained in the crib when i would clean his room or put away his laundry. and it would alsohelp him fall asleep.

My friend said she didn't bother with the mobile above the bed. She did get the Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Lullaby Soother. She said it has a light show and plays music. It also has a remote so she doesn't have to go in the room to restart it if her baby is still awake after the first round (which she said is rare). I decided to put one on my registry. It's not cheap ($40 at Target) but she said it was worth it to her because her son loves it.

Yeah i figured it would help sooth her to sleep...

well a mobile..isnt nesscary..but i do think that it gives them something to focus there eyes on or like strengthen his cornous...((im a dope i dont know how to spell cornous lmao)))

This is like equivalent to what my friend got (that I mention above) - - hers was the Baby Einstein one though.
