sudden swelling and red blotches?
posted 21st Aug
So today i had to work a 12 hour day which is 4 more than I am used to. I woke up sore and my nose was tingling. By 9 am my eyes were burning and I felt like I was catching a cold. Awful pain between my shoulder blades. I kept getting really hot too. I felt horrible all day but there was no one to cover for me and there was a mandatory call night. At closing time I sat down and my co-worker noticed my ankles were really swollen. I am not sure when it happened I just know that it was very sudden. They are really fat, can't even see my ankle bones. The fact that they are swollen doesn't worry me so much except that it happened really suddenly. I get home and I take off my shirt to get in the shower and I catch a glimpse of something on my back. i look closer and it's this series of red blotches that start at on a mole I have on my back and work their way down my spine. No clue how or when they got there. Anybody know what these might be? Also, should I be concerned about the sudden swelling?

do you have a blood pressure machine or no anyone that has one? With swelling there is often a blood pressure incraese that youll want to keep a watch on.
the swelling, first things first, put your feet up. Also, id call and talk to a doctor just to see what they want. my swelling started off gradually with my hands and feet then all of a sudden my knees and face were swollen.
call, theyll be able to help you. Id also recommend NOT doing 12 hour shifts anymore...

That would be really nice, but unless my Doc writes up an order not to, I can't get out of the long shifts. My company has high expectations from everyone right now, and they said either get on board or get out. I have about 6 weeks left until I'm due. I tried calling the Doc and they said unless it's an emergency call back in the morning. No blood pressure machine available.

well. when you see your doc have him write a note. Its not worth hurting yourself or the baby.
Since they dont think its an emergency call back in the morning but keep your feet up. lay in bed with pillows inder your ankles to help elevate them at heart level or higher. drink a lot of water, dont eat salt. If you can wrap your ankles with an ace bandage or get some ted stockings (available at any pharmacy.. walgreens walmart ect) becasue thatll help move fluid around. make sure to take any wrappings off at night or if it gets too tight. If you go to a store like walmart use the BP machine they have in their pharmacy. What kind fo work do you do?

I slept with my feet up and drank like 8 glasses of water in two hours and it seemed to help! Thanks! I have a lot of back and shoulder pain, but I've had that for the last few weeks constantly! I had a loss of appetite though and today I have had shooting pains in my belly that make me stop and lean over until they pass by. Not sure if it is BH or what...
