I went at 20 weeks and they couldn't tell. My baby wouldn't open its legs. The lady said she THINKS its a girl but wasn't very positive at all....so Im not going by what she says. But my SIL who went when she was 18 weeks, found out she was having a girl. I am going to get a 3D ultrasound September 20th I will be 30 weeks so.

The reason they generally wait for 20 weeks is so they can also see the baby's anatomy a bit better - They thought my son might have a kidney problem at my 20 week ultrasound....(turns out he's fine!   )

That ultrasound isn't done just so we can tell if it's a boy or girl - the doc is also checking the size of their head, looking at the arms, legs, fingers, and toes as well as baby's insides - like thier heart, brain, kidneys, stomach, bladder, and is making sure everything is developing normally... That's why although alot do it earlier, most try to make us wait until 20 weeks.

i found out at 14 weeks... so no i can be done, but tech the US are to see how the baby is growing so in all reality she can be a total bitch and say she doesnt have to give that info... but i'd be nice because when you do go to the US you dont want to give you hard time and lie and say oh we can tell

When you're farther along, you don't have to have a full bladder...

I had to have a full bladder for my 20 week, but at 28 weeks, they told me to empty it.

Thats what I kept telling myself, was I hope the baby cooperates. But my baby has always been so active at my ultrasounds I have had 5-6 ultrasounds. So the baby was moving around just not opening the legs. lol. But its cool cause my husband said its ok to get a 3D one to know for sure, even though we have to pay for it! Its gonna be worth it. We were supposed to go last saturday for the 3D, but my husband woke up sick so had to reschedule it, soonest they could get me in was September 20th   But I will be 30 weeks and the baby will have more fat on it and be more defined! Well good luck at the ultrasound!

I had my first ultrasound at 12 weeks and I sat there with a full bladder then when they called me they told me to empty my bladder! Then I had the ultrasound...

my baby is very active too...at the first ultrasound the baby was moving all around...and then today finding the heartbeat was hilarious bc we kept having to find it again bc he/she was moving ALL around..at one point the heartbeat was over by my right pelvic bone and then it switched all the way over to my left pelvic bone lmao

lmoa Thats funny. Its crazy. I remember looking on the screen and just seeing the baby move all over the place! And when we go to the doctor with the heart beat monitor they use it takes them awhile to find they go all over my belly its funny. But I know I have a healthy active baby!

Was your 12 week a probe?

My 8 week was... you don't have to have a full bladder for a probe.

If it wasn't a probe, you're lucky... that was not comfortable...
