"Bigger" Mommies don't necessarily have "bigger" babies!

This issue has been swimming around in my mind since I was pregnant. My daughter is 3 months old, and I figured I would bring this issue out into the open  

I am, what you would call, a "big" girl, yeah I am plus sized, so what? I love having curves! I was a size 16 when I got pregnant.

I gained 45 lbs when I was pregnant and went up a few sizes (grrr!)

Well the ENTIRE time I was pregnant I was told by virtually EVERYONE, that because I am "bigger" my daughter was going to be a HUGE baby...

Not the case, whatsoever.

I had an u/s at 36 weeks because my uterus was measuring bigger than the baby by external palpatation. The u/s told me that she was 5 lbs 9 oz approx. Everyone I told said "oh that cant be right, she HAS to be bigger!!"

She was born exactly 3 weeks later at 5 lbs 14 oz. I had a pretty healthy pregnancy, I didnt smoke (which ppl accuse me of because of her low birthweight) I didnt do ANYTHING i wasnt supposed to do. I was induced due to preeclampsia--thats it!

The same goes for the other side of the issue, smaller women dont always have small babies! My cousin was a size 5 and had an almost 9 lb baby! When EVERYONE expected my daughter to weigh like 11 lbs... *rolls eyes*

Anybody else get thrown into "big women have big babies" or "small women have small babies" category?

Well I was a size 4 until I was 5months pregnant and my son was 8lb 2.7oz.

He is always been in the 97th percentile too (but he's more tall than chubby)

Soooo small mama, big baby.

I guess I was what you would call average when I got pregnant (about a size 5 or 7) but I DID have a small baby (9 days overdue, 5lbs 15ozs) and get the questioning looks when people find out how much he weighed... very frustrating since I gained 35 lbs and followed every rule to the letter during my pregnancy...

I agree. Im glad someone said something. Ive gained 60lbs. and right now my baby weighs 8lbs. lol. soo maybe its because ive gained weight that hes so much. Buut i weighed 150 before.. so i wasnt big.

...em, my MIL swears I'm too tiny to carry twins. I was only preggers w/ a single, but as a preemie he was OVER 6lbs!!!

Lilly is in the 5th precentile for both height and weight.   Shes tiny

everyone kept telling me that I was getting huge and that I wasn't going to go full term...(which i didn't go full term but that was because of pre e and low amniotic fluid)

people are so stupid. everyone was so surprised when i popped out a 9.5 lb baby because they said "youre just too small to have that big of a baby". im not even small anyways, im average sized. but that is besides the point. the size of the person doesnt correlate to the size of the baby.

i know my mom was a size 3 when she had me (she has pics for proof lol) and i was almost an 11 lbs pound baby imagine that???? im 6 months preggers right now and about a size 7 went up from a size 5 and docs say the baby looks healthy and normal not too big not too small he measured at 13 cm for my 20 week ultrasound!

well sinc eim 15 everyone thought that anthony would be big since my tummy was huge my boyfriends family thought he was going to be about 9lbs but he was 7lb 5oz. so then my boyfriend'sfamily accused me of not eating enough!*rolls eyes* i was a size 1 or 3 and now im a size 3-5 in juniors.  

I was a size 2 when I got pregnant. I didn't start having the baby bump until I was six months. Everyone thought my son was going to be a preemie. I had him and he was 7lbs 8oz. True for some and not for others.

people are ignorant.

With my first child I wore a size 10 to begin with and gained 70lbs or so and she was only 7lbs 5oz and my second baby was 7lbs. Everyone kept telling me I was having 9lb babies but my doctor actually guessed 7.5lbs with my first. The same story with this one except I have only gained 20lbs so far but I started out wearing a 14 before my third baby. I can't seem to lose the weight no matter what I try.

my bf is tall and believe my baby will be tall.... i am big but i wasnt excactly huge!!! i was a 7-9 size and now im preggers im almost like a size 17 because i have this big saggy belly of a baby! lol only 2 weeks and 4 days to go though!!! s0o0o0 happy!

YeahI cant fit into normal jeans that are my size they have to be bigger because I havent lost the baby fat! Grrr! lol.
