My first ultrasound monday

So i have my very first ultrasound on monday, and the doctor said to drink lots of water an hour before does that mean i can't pee that hour?

They want you to have a full bladder when you get there.

definately. They tell you to drink lots of water because it makes the ultrasound clearer. People who deink caffene, theirs tend to be kinda grey.

No, they need your bladder full so that they can see things better. But it sucks to try to hold the pee in. I remember with my first pregnancy I was in the waiting room dying because I really had to pee, the nurse was like go to the bathroom and just pee a little and I said It won't be a little. LOL!!

how far along are you? if you are about 8 to 13 weeks they are probably gonna do a vaginal ultrasound!!! cripes that was freaky and uncomfortable and somewhat painful! but if its a regular one space out the water you drink they told me 32 ounces in 1 hour and omg did i have to pee i almost cried!! but it was so worth getting the chance to see my baby boy!

oh it'll be a normal ultrasoud!!! prepare yourself to feel like your tummy is stretching from all the water!!! like i said my doc told me 32 ounces in one hour no bathroom until after the ultrasound!!! i got to relieve myself half way through itthough cause i guess the baby was getting fussy since i really had the urge to pee!!! good luck!! they might be able to tell you the gender at this appoint as well!!!

do you pay extra for them to tell you?

no you shouldnt have to pay extra b/c its your choice of weather or not you want them to tell you! the technitian has to look at that region anyways just to make sure that everything is growing right and properly!!

who told you guys about the bladder thing. My US tech told me it's so the fluid is clearer. Is she just a freaking dumbass?

my doctor told me to make sure i got with a full bladder and to start drinking one hour before

they had me pee in the cup b4 i had mine but mine was a vaginal ultra sound and mine was in my drs office...so iono if that is why or what?

they need an empty bladder for a vaginal ultrasound! the last thing they want is for you to pee on their table when they add the pressure of the probe to your bladder and what not!

lol yea i kinda figured...but i didn't know they did ultra sounds that way lol. New experience for me. And it was my first dr. appt with this doctor so yea they threw it all at me at once.
