Losing your mucus plug and dialating

I was wondering, do you have to lose your mucus plug BEFORE you can start dialating?? Or can you start to dialate first???

I have no clue! I never even noticed when my mucous plug came out!

Oh ok cool...I was asking because tomorrow (today) I go to the doctor and I am hoping she will check to see if anything is happening down there. But I didnt want to get my hopes up because I dont think I have lost my plug yet.

You can definitely dilate first. I was dilated to "2" as of last week and still haven't noticed a major mucous plug coming out...I didn't see it w/my other 2 either!?!

I'm 1 1/2 - 2cm dialated, 60% effaced, and no plug yet.....

I was 80% effaced and 2 1/2 cm dialted for a couple weeks before I lost my plug

Well Im due in about 1 1/2 weeks and if they do check me tomorrow it will be the FIRST time LoL....ALSO, you think it is safe to be induced ON your due date???

but i was "fingertip dialated" at 38 weeeks, then lost my mucus plug at 40w1d had him 40w3d.
