17 & 2 children

I need a little help on how to process this. I just found out that my 17 year old brother in law is on his 2nd child with a different girl. He has a 4 month old daughter with another person and is having problems with the first mother because she is possibly abusing the baby and he won't fight for custody for her because he thinks he's too young to get custody and isn't bothering to try. Now he's got his 2nd child on the way and I am not sure how to react to this situation. I personally think he should have been a little more smarter in the situation. Any advice Please.

I know it's hard but maybe you should just stay out of it. It seems like you couldn't help the situation much anyway.

i have a 16 yr old sister in law. my husband is the oldest and his mom was a married teen mom

CPS in this county doesn't do crap, they are so thick headed. The mom has been reported so many times.

He obviously learned nothing from the situation with the first girl. I would be honest on how displeased you are with him and his actions. There is a difference between being supportive and being an enabler, sounds like your bil's family is walking the line.

I know I can't personally help the situation, but it's frustrating when he nneds to take care of his first baby and not give up on it. I would fight my ass off if i was the teenage father and my baby is being possibly abused.

wow i feel sorry for those kids....

sounds like neither of the parents think theyre 'old enough' to take care of their responsibilities.... unfortunately whoever the parental figure in their lives were didnt really teach them too much about birth control or what happens when someone gets pregnant...

unless you ARE the parental figure then there is not much you can do about the situation ... its sad.

i dont know what id do if my brother / brother in law had two kids so young & was just dismissing his responsibilities...
its gotta make it hard on the family ...

someone in charge of him needs to step up & perhaps permanently shrink wrap his 'instrument' lol
