Bringing babies to baby showers...

posted 20th Aug
My friend just asked me if she could bring her baby to my baby shower. I told her I dont see why not and that im sure others will bring their babies too if they want to have their baby with them. I really dont mind but it just seems like you would want to find a sitter. I understand some woman dont have or trust people to watch their babies.
I feel like if I had a baby shower to go to I would find a baby sitter so I can go enjoy a couple hours to myself and to be involed in the shower instead of taking care of my baby the whole time.
What are your thoughts?

depends on the type of shower, my showers were more family showers not girlfriend showers so there were a bunch of kids and men there, but girlfriend ones i could c y ppl would want to leave the kid with someone to attend it

i think that they should at least try and find one and if not then bring them or if there like a couple months old i would never let some one els watch the baby

I brought Cora to my best friends baby shower in June and I'm sure that my friend would have been mad if I DIDN'T bring her.

Granted, it meant I was busy with a 2 month old for the whole time but it was still fun and there were alot of people to take care of her so I did gets bits of a break.

I think it's just a personal choice.

There were 2 babies at my shower. The mom's never really saw there babies the whole time anyways because everyone wanted to hold them.

i agree with you.

I prolly would have added something like, "well, I know that _____ and _____ are getting sitters so they can get some adult time so you"ll probably be the only one with a child there."

That's how a friend posed it to me when I asked if children were invited to her wedding. And I didn't take offense at all. I was glad to know that if we brought our daughter that she'd be the only kid there. I found a sitter.

People brought their babies to my babyshower and I took Novali to others. I really don't know why on earth it would be wrong or weird to have a baby at a babyshower!

How old is her baby?? I had big kids at my party, i just made sure we had things for them to keep them busy. I had about 75 people at my shower so it wasnt a big thing if a small baby was there, but if its most intimate she should get a sitter for a few hours so she can enjoy herself, but better yet you have a great day minus screaming hehe =0)

Personally i fell younger ones can come but 2+ shouldnt be invited, ive been to many showeres where peoples kids were opening gifts, causing drama, there was even my SiL's shower where seriously there were like 5 kids, and noone wanted them there because they were...psycho.. lol

I think if at all possible find a sitter. Bringing the baby should be a last resort. Unless of course everyone else is bringing their kids then why not?

I think as long as they ask and you say it is alright then it is fine, but I don't think anyone should just assume that it is okay for them to bring their children... an infant is a bit different then a child though. I had two infants come unexpected to mine and that was fine because they were confined to their carriers or someone holding them but I would not by any means had enough room if someone would have brought their toddlers to run around...

Oh hell no LOL, bad kids are not allowed. That is not acceptable, i would of been so embarassed if my kid did that.

i had a bunch of kids // babies at mine. it was fun. of course they were running around psycho and being loud, but no one minded. a bunch of the kids helped me open the presents, which was good because it would have taken all day without the help. i felt so bad though, my dad told one of my cousins children are NOT invited, and not to bring her 3. they are exceptionally crazy kids, and no one wants them around but still, when she showed up and saw other peoples kids were there she must have been pissed.
