Do stretch marks hurt?

Hey all, I am about 36 wks and I have been having this really annoying pain on the right side of my stomach.  It feels really raw like when you scratch too hard or get a rug burn... I haven't gotten any stretch marks thus far, and I was wondering if maybe that's what it was.  It's gotten to the point where I can't even let my shirt touch it because it hurts.  But when I look there is nothing there, no lines or red marks, and I have been using a lot of lotion... but nothing helps.  Well I wanted to see what you all thought, and if there's anything I can do to make it stop!  It's driving me crazy

I have never heard of a streatch mark hurting like that. They itch...but other than that I don't know they are there unless I look at them. I mean, anythings possible, but they don't hurt me other than they aren't real pretty!

really? wow, I guess I'm luckier than I thought!

When i got one it burned a little like a rug burn, and i didn't notice if my shirt or fabric burned.

Stretch marks don't hurt, but they do itch like crazy! Put tons of lotion on to keep the itching down, and that "stretch mark" prevention butter doesn't work. If your going to get them, then your going to get them.

no mine dont hurt.. (yet) but they ITCH like crazy i want to rip my skin off..

Mine never hurt. My fiance says they looked like they did though

my stretchies didnt hurt at all. i didnt even notice i was getting any until i looked in the mirror one day and there were like 10 on each side of my tummy.

Im covered in strethchmarks and no they dont hurt. they itch but thast about it.

i feel so un lucky. they sting if i put lotion on them. it sucks so bad.

My tummy is a wild road map and they never hurt but they were itchy as hell when I first got them 7 yrs ago.

Depends on how bad they are. With my oldest they were so bad it looked like I was beat with a belt they hurt like heck. With my other two they kinds burned a bit and itched but didn't hurt much.

Huh, ok.  Well what did they look like when you first started getting them?  Because I don't see any lines or marks, just belly...

I would talk to your doctor about them. I mean I hardly doubt that the problem is stretch marks if you dont actually have anything showing up there. Isuggest speaking to your doctor about it.
