Quoting Chelsea//Shorty:“ Help Me Feel Better And Share Your Story Iv Been Reading Online And Now Im Really Scared lol. How Long ... [snip!] ... Days Did You Have To Stay?? AHHH!!! (Thank God I'll Have A Tv And Computer That Comes Right To My Bed Or I Might Go Nuts lol)”
Hi, I had a c-section on Saturday 8-16-08. I got out of the hospital on 8-19-08 so I was there for almost 4 days. I was released on the 4th day.
I was able to hold my baby after they "wiped" her off in the operating room. I was only numb from the chest down. (undermy breast). Since she was early, she had to go to NICU.
I didn't get an epidural, I got a spinal and the only thing that I was able to feel was the pressure of them pulling the baby out. (It didn't hurt at all). The numbness lasted for about 2 hours or just a little over two hours and them all my feeling came back.
For me the next day was not bad because I made it a priority to get out of bed as soon as I was able to. I asked my nurse as soon as I went to my regular room how soon I could get up and I was out of bed as soon as I was able to be. Walking is the MOST important way to help recover afterwards. It will hurt to get up... but after the first time it just gets easier.
Each time before getting up though, I requested my pain medication which made it A WHOLE LOT better. They gave me Percocet and Motrin. It worked like a charm.
Hope this helps to ease your mind.
Good Luck
