switching formula

how bad is it to switch formula?
and if you do are there any side effects..dirreha, etc?

my son was on Simlac Advanced with iron, and it made him so constapated(sp)? so i switched him to the target brand, and he's so much better on it, and its nicer on my wallet

I wouldn't recommend it. Side effects anywhere from fussiness, sleep issues, diareah (sp), gas, etc. Try not to if you don't have to, unless dr says the current formula could be a reason for current issues.

Weve switched a few times, currently trying to find one he does well with. Switching can cause upset tummies in some babies. We try and switch when we are about halfway done with whatever one hes eating, that way we can do a gradual change. We will mix the two half and half for awhile to help him transition onto the new one. The only problem we have had so far is constipation, and I'm not sure if its from switching formulas or not. I'm thinking that part of that problem comes from my having to stop supplementing him w/ breastmilk along w/ formula.

i would talk to your pedi, mine was fine with me switching since the Target Brand is pretty much exactly the same, im not sure why it dosnt make him constapated, im just happy lol

bc similac is 14 dollars a can..

yeah or 26 for the big one,

the target brand is 11 for the big can!!

Wow...I think I will be going to Target tonight, lol. Didn't know it was that much cheaper. Thanks ladies!!

yeah, we use walmart brand which is 11 for a regular big can-15 for the gentle formula that we use

im pretty sure the target gentle is a few dollars more too.
