Birth Control and Breast feeding..

What do ya'll recommend for birth control while breast feeding? I know certain ones will stop milk production.. and I was considering an IUD, but I was googling people's side eefects and think it seems to do more damage than good....

I have Mirena and breastfeed. And I make TONS of milk. lol. I can get about 5oz. out of each side when i'm really full!

That freaking sucks, I have to be on a stronger pill bc of my weight...

I got the mini pill. I had a lot of irregular bleeding for the first month or so, but now I don't have a period at all. If you can remember to take it, then I would suggest getting it.

i'm planning on doing the iud, but I'm not going with Mirena.

I'm really liking the Paraguard.. no hormones at all so it's great for your body and it's recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for nursing mothers. And it's just as effective.. over 99%,

I'm horrible about doing the pill everyday.. I have a feeling with all the craziness of a newborn and doing online classes, it will be easy to forget. And the mini pill isn't like reg. bc.. you HAVE to take it the same time every day for it to work.

I've heardParaguards pretty much all the great things of Mirena, without all the nasty side effects like continual spotting and such. But bear in mind every woman's body is different so I'm sure that goes the same with side effects.

I've always used Ortho Tricyclen Lo. It's awesome!!

Not to worry while you are breast feeding, your body naturally does it for you. They call it Ecological Breastfeeding. See below:

Through ecological breastfeeding, women can naturally space their babies without using any birth control. This involves frequent nursings by the baby (breastfeeding on demand). This is achieved through mother/baby togetherness, having breast milk be the primary food for baby (not supplementing with formula), feeding frequently at night (hormones that encourage ovulation are released more at night), and not using pacifiers which may reduce the baby's need to suck at the breast. It is the frequency of the baby sucking which allows this to happen. When the baby sucks at the breast, it signals the mother to release hormones which suppress ovulation.

My husband and I have used Natural Family Planning since we've been married and we love it! It is just basically knowing when you are fertile and not fertile. We took 2 classes through the Couple to Couple League, and I love that I don't have to put any chemicals and hormones into my body! Plus you learn a TON about your body and how it works, so I can't speak highly enough about it!!

thanks!!! aweseome  im definitly going to research that... I have a friend that got pregnant a month after her first while breastfeeding.... but I wonder if she was consistant.. or what other factors take into play

Also study Birth Control by Breastfeeding, the way GOD created BF it's a natural form of birth control..now, not totally, but the facts are interesting and you have to do it full-time. Breastfeeding represses your period. I can't wait to breastfeed. I love not having periods!
