Oh man, I know I'm going to be in the minority, but pit bulls are SUCH GOOD DOGS.  They're so sweet!!  It sucks that they are given such a bad reputation because they are notorious for being raised in a mean environment (beaten, starved, etc) so they will fight other dogs...and essentially become mean and violent toward people.  It's not the dog, it's the way you train it!  So many of my friends have had pit bulls and they're all so super sweet.  For example, I lived across from these people who rescued a pit bull puppy a few months before I adopted my cavalier king charles spaniel puppy.  the pit bull was almost completely full grown (so huge) and my cav was less than four pounds.  My puppy took the pit bull's huge rawhide bone and sat there growling and barked at the pit bull whenever she got too close.  The pit bull just stood there wagging her tail (well...her nub).  So....yeah...also, they got the pit bull right before the girl had her baby.  The pit bull never touched him.

I was one of the votes against, because I hate all pets. And I think pits are too big anyways. Nothing against the breed in the manner, just the size, the stink (this is the biggest reason I hate dogs), the cleaning up after, the hogging of the bed..you know, stuff like that.
Thats the reason I voted "I hate pitbulls".

I was a dog groomer for 6 years, and have come across many pitts. While I have come across some unsavory ones, the breed, as a whole is a great one!.
I think they are adorable, and are generally very loveable.
The pitts that I've seen that aren't so nice, also have not-so-nice owners. Temperment can be inherent, but 9 times out of 10 it's learned.
Nasty pitts are raised that way, not born that way.

It's not bullshit. If you were to see a bite pattern from a Pit and a bite pattern from a retriever there'd be a difference.

She was just stating a fact. I'm FOR pits, but they do have the lock down jaws, and their bites are way worse than other breeds.
But they can be trained to not bite.

I don't think there should be any breed bans. Like I said in my previous post. 9 times out of ten the behavior is learned, not bred.
I've met pitts, rotties, mastiffs, shepards, etc, that are the sweetest, most lovable things going.
and I've seen labs, goldens, beagles, that are the nastiest little suckers alive.

It all depends on how they're brought up.
IMO nasty owners = nasty dogs.

pitbulls are definitely misjudged! I never really cared for the look of those animals but as far as them beingbanned andput to sleep just because or thier breed is just ridiculous! My friend has two of the biggest, meanest looking pits i have seen, but they are the biggest babies and she lets her 12 month old baby crawl around and jump on them like nothing. They are also great protectors! I think no one would dare try breaking into her house with those dogs around, and I think that is the only reason these dogs would be mean, if they are feeling threatened....I visit her and the dogs want to jump on my lap and just be pet and babied...its how you train you dogs...not the breed!

i have a pit bull and shes the biggest baby in the world. she is just wearey around people she dosent know.

actually pit bulls were originally bred for hog/boar hunting so of course they will have a harder lock thank a laborador who is bred to hunt birds and small game.
