getting your cervix checked??

Does it hurt, how do they check it?

They shove their fingers as far up as they can and feel your cervix.

It is uncomfortable.

Any time I had an ultrasound in the past, they would use the transvaginal camera to check my cervix. At my last ultrasound, they checked it through my belly. I'm not sure how they'll check it later...

I wouldn't describe it as hurting..just uncomfortable like the vaginal ultrasound was.

nah it doesnt hurt at all.its like a pelvic exam when they put a finger up there and if your dilated they may put another and its not painful at all.but its better than a vaginal u/s those suck..and the techs arent even easy they whip those things around in there and its like damn chill out!!!

Mine never hurt but they are uncomfy. I didnt think any of them were any worse than the vag u/s.

does anyone know when they usually start checking? i am 26 weeks, just wanted to know before i got there...

The first time she checked me it hurt but I was not even 1cm & not effaced at all. The second time wasn't as bad, 1cm & 75% effaced. I am hoping it gets better as you dilate & thin out more.

They probably wont check you until at least 36 weeks. My doctor started at 37.
