Brown Discharge???

posted 18th Aug
Hello everyone, I am freaking out a little and wanted to see if this happens to everyone or not. Im 14 weeks and 2 days and I haven't had any kind of discharge other than clear or a little white. I went to the bathroom earlier and had a little bit of brown discharge on my toliet paper, Im really scared and hope there is nothing wrong with me or the baby.

it could be a sign of infection, that happened to me when i was pregnant, the brown discharge and sometimes it would turn red and the hospital would do thes tests and stuff, and i would usually have an infection, i would go in and get it checked out to be safe, you don't want it to get worse if thats what it is

I know this is going to sound really gross but sometimes I wipe the wrong way and there is brown on the toliet paper, no not blood. The only reason I mention it is because I freaked out thinking it was blood at first...
If you are sure it is blood, from what my OB has told me, no bleeding is normal in the second or third trimesters and should be reported immediately. However, I have read and seen posts where it turns out to be nothing dangerous or bad at all.

I have been going through something like this. Although I can't say for sure that you're okay, I believe you are. My brown spotting started out like yours(from the beginning of my pregnancy). This past weekend the amount increased and it turned a darker brown. Like you I was freaking out. I went to the doctor today and had an ultrasound and the baby is just fine. Kicking around and having a good ol time   My doctor said that a quarter of women spot or bleed in their pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies. As long as you're not experiencing cramps and the blood doesn't turn bright red, you should be okay. I could have sworn I was having a miscarriage from the amount I was discharging but the baby's healthy andthe heart rate is normal. I would check with the doc though just for your peace of mind.Good luck!

Thank you ladies for your advice, I was freaked out cause I had a miscarriage with my first baby and it started with brown discharge then eventually turned red and I went into labor at 13 weeks. Its a scary thing, but It happened only once for me this time and went away and my doctor said it was old blood that probably came out from my first ultrasound I had three weeks prior so I feel so much better, but your all right my ER nurse told me when I lost my first baby that alot of women have this happen to them and go on to have healthy babies so for those who have this don't give up. Thanks Again!

I have had that. Its probably something minor, like a slight infection. I had brown discharge with my first baby, went to the doc and found that I had cervicitis (cervical inflamation). It went away on it's own. The second baby, I had the same discharge and it turned out to be bacterial vaginosis which is common in pregnant women. I was put on some antibiotics and all was well.
