Terbutaline

Does this medication cause brain damage?? I have been reading about it all over the internet and in all these law firm websites that it causes brain damage...Ughhh i am freaked!

I was on it for 6 weeks and me and my son are fine so far.

i hope not!! i've had a total of 6 shots this pregnancy!! 3 at 27 weeks and 3 at 33 weeks (yesterday)

I dont know if i should still take it or not...Look up terbutaline and brain damage on google and there are like a page or more of lawfirms that say it causes brain damage!!

i would say the risks it could cause would outweight the risks of having a baby super preterm. but my mom had it with my brother and she said it made her feel all weird, like hyper and tingly inside or something. and now my brother is 12, and he was diagnosed with ADHD maybe5-7 years ago? she swears thats what caused him to be this way. but he is very smart, actually he is genious by definition. so if it did brain damage, it was a reverse brain damage, which i would assume could be possible to call somethign like that brain damage in a positive way. somethign in his brain might have been messed up a little, but in the long run it's a good thing.

you take the pill form?? they gave me the shots in the ER.. i dont take them on a daily basis or anything... thats scary. im googling now

Yeah i have to take it every 6 hours...Its 5mg

I took the pills every day for 2 weeks and had the shot (they made me so shaky...not a great feeling). I know it's a little scary, but it's better to run a slight risk with your little one on the inside versus having a large risk of issues with your little one on the outside.

Yeah thats true, i am just scared and i feel selfish taking it, i just dont know what to do...

well if you're really worried about taking it, maybe go into PWP and read some stories about preemies struggling, and then mabe it will help you feel better about taking it.

I did too, but it got me a baby to term (37w4d) and that's what matters. She was only 6lb2oz as it was...she would have been under 5 pounds at 35 weeks when I started!
