Quoting Mommy of a giggler!:“ I love my drop in's! Few tips though: - only boil/sterilize the rings and stuff that one time - hand ... [snip!] ... going to warm it in the liner, make sure you are using the pre formed ones and not the envelope style ones Hope that helps!”
So don't boil the nipples or rings after each feeding? I don't have a working dishwasher...

Nope. If you read the box for the nipples, one of them says to only boil them the first time, the other one says once a week I think - not sure which is which for the silicon or the latex right now though!

And I always hand washed the rings and didn't boil. One of my friends boiled them all the time, and within a month the rings would leak. My cousin used her dishwasher with them and they lasted a bit longer, but they started leaking at about 3 months. It breaks the plastic down and they don't seal well. Her dishwasher also has that hot steam dry cycle, I don't know if that matters or not.

I heard somewhere that its bad to wash the nipples with regular dishwashing soap that is antibacterial. Am I wrong? What else is there to wash them with? I will stop boiling the rings and nipples   Thank you!

I'm not sure... I never heard of that. I don't use the antibacterial stuff though because my husband is allergic (or so he claimed one time when I asked him to do dishes, so I don't use it anymore lol). I do know that there was a study that came out that the antibacterial stuff wasn't good to use all the time because it even killed the good bacteria. Maybe it doesn't rinse off as well? I just use regular dishsoap - usually pamolive - and hot water and we have never had an issue.

And I found the nipple thing for you - the latex (brown ones) you only boil the first time. The silicon (clear) you boil the first time and then once a week to sterilize if you want. My son preferred the latex - and only used the slow flow size, the rest dripped. If you do use silicone though, there is a tri cut one. To fast of a flow for my son, but if you have thicker liquids (like there is prehaps cereal added to the bottle) they work good for that.

And I thought I should add - I always air dry everything on one of those bottle racks. One of the quickest ways to contaminate clean bottles is to dry them with a towel. Even if it's clean, it could still have stuff on it.

Quoting Cailin's Mommy:“ Playtex Ventaire!! I love them!”

I hated the Ventaire's! Mine kept locking up to where she couldn't get any milk out becuase the vent was malfunctioning. I even followed the "troubleshooting" guidelines regarding that about making sure the vent was dry and whatnot but it still did it.

I liked the Dr. Browns for the gas effectiveness but hated cleaning the tubes!

Avents always leaked on me.

I am using Playtex Drop Ins when my MIL occasionally watches her and gives her breastmilk in the bottle and she loves them, they don't leak, they don't give her gas and she doesn't choke on them. Plus the liner just tosses away for less chance of spoiled milk rolling around your car from falling out of the diaper bag etc.

Quoting *Queen CC Squeeze*:“ lol I thought that was a great feature too... until it exploded all over Aidan, me, and the bed  ... [snip!] ... a big ol' mess... Oh! and since they collapse in it makes it hard to see what the baby has eaten and when to burp them...”

Oh I just let my daughter make the decision as to when to burp. She pulls off the bottle nipple and archs just like when she is ready to burp while breastfeeding.

First I started out with the Dr. Brown's bottles, but then I tried the Soothie bottles and she loves them, so I've kept with those. She doesn't have much gas, or stomach upset from feeding so I haven't had to change even though they don't have those fancy air things. I also like the fact that they come with little storage/snack holders for the bottom of the bottles...that way I can just put the formula in the little storage holder and pop it on the bottle and take it wherever I go and just mix it when she's ready to eat, and don't have to worry about keeping the formula chilled so it doesn't go bad or anything...whoever came up with the idea is genius,,and if she wants a bottle in the middle of the night, or first thing in the morning, I don't even need to run down the stairs..I just put a bottle on my night stand with the measured formula in the storage thing and mix it and pop the bottle in her mouth.

I have heard this too, I believe I read it on the back of the box of bottles.
