Does anyone know if my friend can open up a bank account with no SSN?

As in... Your friend doesn't HAVE a SSN or has lost the card and / or number?

No, she doesn't have a SSN...although I've heard of some ppl who have opened accounts without one...IDK?

If your friend is a foreigner, in this country legally with a valid passport yes he/she can. go to the bank with the passport, he wont be able to open one without a passport. I don't know if all banks do or not but Huntington bank does, just make sure they search for it, for a lot of bank employees have never had to do it, so they assume they can not. 2 of my friends have huntington accounts, that they had opened while visiting U.S

lol, yep, that's what I was talking about. It goes into more detail, but IDK...I don't think that would be the route to go!

I would suggest a major bank chain... Bank of America, Washington Mutual, etc...

She moved here...jarhead what do you mean bank chain, do you mean she should try going to Bank of America to try and open an account?

Well basically all it's telling you is that she CAN get a bank account without a SSN. The only problem would be getting through the bank because they would be wary of giving someone an account without a SSN. All she has to do is inform them she knows her rights and that she doesn't HAVE to have one and that they legally have to let her apply for one.
