How many words can or could your 14 or 15month old say that you and others can understand?

Gav is 15 months and says a few basics: mama, dada, cracker, woof-woof, nigh-night. He doesn't really say much, he's a quiet type.

My niece was talking in small sentences at 14 months. Things liks, "Cracker, please" and "I don't want to".

Each child differs.

My daughter talked to me in full sentences at 15 months. I can't even count the words she could clearly say. She would repeat every word I would ask her to say. She's a freak of nature with talking though. She CLEARLY said "my blanket" when she was 8.5-9 months old. She has an amazing vocab!

I think girls do more than boys, at least from my experience.

I'm not worried about Gav, though. He just takes after my husband in the talking department and doesn't say much.

my guy wasnt saying too to many words at that age. he had the basic momma and daddy down-papa and mah-mah (for grandma and grandpa) kitty, milk, bubba (for bottle or juice cup), please
but he was alwaysa big talker-just none of the other tings he said were actual words lol.
now hes 2.5 and talks a looooot more. some words you have decifer but hes getting really good at putting his own sentances together and discovering more words

Em is 16 months and she'll say a few words. Mainly mama, nana, bye bye, snack, night night, and a few others. She might be a little behind the norm I think, but she's never been an overly verbal child so I'm not too worried. She didn't babble like most babies do, and she's just now starting to laugh out loud on a regular basis. She understands me really well and can follow directions great though. Within the last couple weeks she's really picked up on babbling constantly and the last couple days she's been trying to say at least say 2-3 words a day, but she still has a way to go before others can understand her lol.

i'm sure that's what's going on. My son is 11 months and not even one word out of him yet....

My daughter is the same way. At her 1st birthday she was singing along to "Happy Birthday" She has been very advanced with her words! now she's two and I can have a full conversation with her and understand everything

Yeah Katelyn talked a ton!! But the repliers to this thread aren't the norm, lol! I have talked to lots and lots of women on here about babies talking and at 15 months they should be able to say 3 to 6 words and understand a lot more (according to my ped, anyway). Around 18 months they'll have a verbal growth spurt and can pick up as much as 3 words a day!! I say enjoy the quiet while it lasts, lol! Katelyn literally talks from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed. It's ridiculous!

Oh and I didn't answer your question lol! Katelyn could say over 200...she knew all her body parts and tons of animal sounds plus the animals names and lots of food and toy words. By 18 months I could no longer count how many she knew, she could sing songs and count to 3. (Well say numbers to three...I still don't think she's actually grasped counting.)

But he definately understands a lot of things. His drs not worried about it so im not worried. He'll talk when he's ready

ditto...except Jake's ped said at 15 months it was 3-5 words lol...not like that matters though, just throwing it out there lol...Jake's close to 17 months, in like a week or so, and from his 15 months appointment to now, he has picked up so many words the closer he gets to 18 months. It's crazy how quiakly he is picking them up, when only a couple months ago, it was just a few words lol....I actually make a list the other day, and it's between 20-30 words!

OMG at 15 months she could say all that? She's one smart cookie lol! Jake can identify about 20 body parts as well, and has since about 12 months, but he doesn't say nowhere near 200 words lol. And all animals are "pups" to him lol

I am not kidding, she talked ridiculously well, pretty early and she still does. We're all big talkers though, so I think it might be hereditary, lol!

At fifteen months my son was just saying a lot of basic words and a couple of funny ones! He was at that stage where he just tried to copy everything i said.
