posted 18th Aug
I'm very curious. My mom and MIL keeps telling me I need to get my dog nuetered. He has a very good temperment and is great around kids tho so why would I want to?

How did your pet dog react to the new baby?

We have 2 very hyper dogs and bringing home our son actually calmed them down. They run to him everytime he cries too!

My dog LOVES my baby. She will run circles around me if McKenzie is crying trying to figure out what is wrong. She is very gentle with her and very curious.

I have a girl dog. She CANNOT stand when i am pregnant. I guess she picks up on the hormone change and doesn't know what to do with hersolf. But when my son was brought home she could care less about him. Still, 22 months later could care less about him. The only time she does pay any attention to him is when he is eating. But thats because she is waiting for him to drop something.

I was worried about my hyper 1 1/2 year old puppy and she's actually been very good with my son and now every time he's in the swing and cries, my dog will go over by him. And for the most part, she keeps her distance from him which is good because I don't want her licking him or anything.

I'm curious about this too. I have an 85 pound American Bulldog. He's very sweet and neutered but sometimes doesn't know his own stregnth. He's a "leaner" too. LOL

Just a question for you since you said you know dogs well, I have a Golden Retriver & he's pretty hyper, by the time my little girl is here he'll be 1 and a half years old, will he be okay with her? He still has all of his puppy hyperness and he has been neutered.

I'm curious about this too, but because I have a tiny chihuahua that wants to be held and loved ALL the time. I think he's going to get jealous.

Well unfortunately at the time I had Kaden my husband was getting deployed. I tried for 3 weeks before having to get rid of Gunner. He kept nipping and Kaden and I. The only person he wouldn't do it to was my husband. So since my husband was deploying.. he had to go. I couldn't take the risk of him biting Kaden or me. It sucked and I feel horrible about it. If Scott would have been staying we would have kept working with him.

My dog is a chihuahua/terrier mix
& she just turned a year old in may.
& she was jealous at first but now she loves her
& wants Amerie to throw her toys lol

but with a male he could mark his territory &
pee everywhere but I have a girl so I dunno..
my dog did takeAmerie's stuff like diapers, comb, booger sucker etc
& chew on them

cuz she was jealous but we learned that she needed a space all her own.
so the laundry room is "her room" her toys
& big couch bed is in there.
& we gate her in there when we leave
with her food & stuff so she wont
pee any where cuz she did that too...
but when a dog is near there food they wont pee or poop
hope that helps but you ca google it or ask your vet?

The whole time I was pregnant, my dog never left my side. She was very protective of me, and wouldn't let anyone around me... When I had Miley, she was excited, at first... lol It's been almost 5 months, and the dog is STILL pouting... lol Although, she is protective of her, she still doesn't like her...... It's pretty comical.
