Plug

posted 17th Aug
Do you always bleed when you lose your mucos (sp?) plug? When is the average time to lose it or is everyone different? Also do you have to lose your plug before you start dialating?

i didn't bleed when I lost the mucous plug. they say labor will come within two weeks of your losing it.I'm not sure about the last question but i know dilation would certainly make itfall out if it hadn't already. hope that helps

I believe that I have been slowly losing mine over this past week and there has been no blood with it so far. I am 2 cm dialated and 60 percent effaced and I just have small bits of mucus (sorry tmi) every now and then after I use the bathroom.

1. I didn't bleed at all.
2. I lost mine at 36 weeks-but I have heard people say they lost it before & after.
3. I didn't start dialating until I was just about 39 weeks--but we had already scheduled my induction.

1st baby- I lost all of mine at one time. No blood. Just pinkish tinged.
2nd baby- Mine came out in little pieces. Had no idea when all of it came out.

I do believe that you can dilate w/out it coming out. I was dilated for a month w/ my first baby before I lost my plug. Most people lose theirs and then it's awhile before the baby comes. Everyone is different so it is hard to say.

Yay, my doctor is checking me thursday to see if I am dialated at all... I doubt I am, and didn't think it would even be possible because I dont think i've lost my plug and i'm only going to be 35w 2d
