Not really sure where to post..

I was wondering if anyone here has been employed by walmart?
The reason why I am asking is because I just got a job
If any of you have been employed how did you like it? My position is going to be cashier. I have had some people tell me it was the worst job they had:-S any answers would be great!

Also, when I filled out the app I made a mistake in my S.S# and they are working on correcting it. Has anyone done this and about how long did it take to fix it?? Thanks!!1

Eeek. lol. I hope so too!
They called and told the head office or w/e that i made a mistake and i guess they entered it in the computer but it just hasn't taken affect yet. I want to start work so bad! 9.20 an hr is pretty good money for being 16 and this being my first "real" job!

I HATED Walmart and so did my husband. I was also a cashier and he stocked at nighttime while we were in college. People can be really rude, assholes, or just plain dumb and I quickly found out that that was not the job for me. I was there a little over three months and left there to go work at Macy's which was sooo much better.

I LOVED retail. i would go back if I could.

Some of the people are horrible, but a lot of them are really fun. I know I would prefer to work in a smaller store [mall sized] and make commission, but you gotta start some where! =]

I agree I liked working at Macy's and Dillard's. I think it dependson the place really. A place like Walmart is just hectic and crazy all the time and people there are rushing and rushing and get attitudes quickly. Other stores are usually that way around the holidays or tax free time.

I worked as cashier. It wasnt bad. And esp if oyu work at a well ran wal-mart. My CSM were ok, you had your good and bad. I enjoyed it, because i got interact with people, and if they like you, then you'll have certain custmors who will only come to you so you know who you are dealing with. Just make sure to keep your IPH(items per hour) up. And also if you like to work at a good speed, stay at big lines, instead of the 20 items only. I use to ring up people with 2 baskets full just to keep busy. But the benifets suck! So i wouldnt make it a career, thats just me tho. As be clear on what you can work, they fucked with every one's time with us. Also it sucks if your sick, and calling the stupid hotline. And they are really greedy about time off.   my grandfather died and they told me it was imm. family. So i got to get off for the day he was buried, and had to show proof, it was horrible. Also my CSMs had their "favorites" that got away with everything.

Oh I don't blame you one bit. Some money is sooo much better than no money. Good luck and you never know you might actually like Walmart. I hope you have a better experience than I did.
