Ha Ha.. it does really hurt!!!! (I hyperventilated from the pain) But I just felt the contractions... I didn't feel her ripping me or anything    I did however feel the placenta, but there were no contractions to mask that pain.. ha ha.. I'd seriously recommend an epi.. I wish I could have got one .. but 9cm it's to0o late for it

I went through a 34 hour labor w/ no meds~ it is painful, but I believe it's do-able. If you want meds, there are other options that don't completely numb you~ talk to your OB I'm sure they'll have suggestions.

When I had Mikaila I had an epi, and with Logan I did it with nothing at all.. I had a super short labor which made it easier, but to me the delivery part felt the same, the only thing that sucked was getting stitched up. Recovery was a lot faster and easier with no meds.

With my first baby I had a c-section.

With my miscarriage I had to go through labor and diolated but only 7cms.

For me, the pain was bad, however, bare-able. It's very odd that a woman in Guatemala (and many other countries) get drugs during childbirth, they almost always have ababy naturally. People in the USA and Europe are spoiled!

If you think about it, women's bodies were made for childbirth, and usually without drugs. I'd recommend it to any woman.

I had an epi with my 1st and hated it. Couldnt feel a damn thing and the back pains that came with it afterwards were pure hell. Im going natural this time. I figured if my grandmother could have 13 babies naturally I damn sure can have 1....

Even though I never got to try it my Dr said that next to the epidural, the best thing for pain relief is getting in the tub.

The labor is hard but if you can go without being induced or aggumented it'll be much easier. My second baby's labor was much easier than my first and I don't know if it was because he was my first or if it was because I had cytotec the first time. The best way to help the pain was to relax, let your belly hang like you're 11 months. I always had to be standing or squating leaning over the bed.

Well, I've done it with meds, with an epidural, and twice with nothing at all. I'd have to say that my two natural births were the best. I hated the epidural! I'd say, try to go natural and if you can't do it ask for meds. If you still can't handle it, get the epidural.

This was my first birth and I had a 12 hour labor and went natural. The first 8 hours I spent at home, then 1 hour checking into the hospital and 2 1/2 hours in the labor & delivery. The contractions hurt, but they are not that bad once you get used to them and if you can keep in your mind that each one lasts only 1 minute, it really helps. I breathed a lot (just slow deep breaths counting to 4 breathing in and then counting back from 4 breathing out). The last 1 1/2 hours sucked, mostly because the contractions eventually became all one long horrible contraction that never stopped.

I will go natural again if I get pregnant, especially because my baby was very healthy at birth (above average) and had no jaundice at all while most babies (because of epidurals) have atleast some jaundice.
