Gentelease

posted 17th Aug
I want to hear from people who use Enfamil Gentelease or have tried it. My son will be 3 weeks on Monday and now that he is awake during most of the day he is so fussy. He has had gas since day 1 and I am just trying to narrow it down...is it the bottles, the formula or just normal? I go to the doc Thursday so I am going to ask her. I asked her when he was 8 days old, but she said that it takes 2 to 3 weeks for a baby to adjust to the formula. My best friend used the Enfamil with iron for 2 weeks w her daughter and she was fussy so she switched to te Gentelease(without asking her doc)and her daughter was way better. I just feel bad b/c he is always trying to push the gas out or have a bowel movement and he turns bright red and screams. I rub his belly and his legs. He usually has a bowel movement once a day, but not always. I am just looking for some opinions before I ask the doc. Thanks ladies!

I tried it when my daughter was a newborn with lots of gas and it really didnt seem to make a difference for her, so I just kept using infamil lipil, but giving her an ounce or less of juice really help her get the gas out. I think babies are so different, but I would def ask you doc about it.

I switched my daughter from regular Enfamil to the Gentlease when she was a couple weeks old, because the regular Enfamil was really giving her tummy issues - or so I thought. The Gentlease helped a lot (because the milk proteins in it are already broken down more, so it's less harsh on their tummies).

I seriously don't think bottles matter a whole lot as far as cutting down on gas. Even breastfed babies get gassy. Just burp them a lot - that's about the best you can do, and as their digestive systems mature, the gas issues go away with time.

My son was super gassy and it broke my heart to see him in so much pain. We switched to Gentlease and it did help a little, but it wasn't the results I was expecting. After doing some research I went out and bought a Dr. Browns bottle and after that first feeding, he never had problems with gas again! We even took him off the Gentlease! Have you tried Dr. Browns?

Another member here on BG had the same problem, and a bunch of people told her to try switching bottles before switching to Gentlease. Sure enough it worked!

No I have not. I was going to, but then some people told me they are a pain in the butt to clean b/c of all the parts. What do you think?

I agree about the bottles. I can just hear the air going into his stomach. I feel bad for him. I have tried 4 bottles already. I know he is only going to be 3 weeks old, but I want to find a consistent thing that works.

That's just pure laziness! There's only two extra parts, which takes a couple seconds to clean. It's definitely worth trying. I mean the bottles are only a couple bucks so ifit doesn't work, it's not likeyou wasted a ton of money. I could have savedabunchhad I tried the Dr. Browns sooner, cause thatGentlease is not cheap!

I disagree with your statement about bottles not making a big difference, and so would a lot of other mama's on this site.

Thanks hun. I will have to make a trip to the store tomorrow. Which ones do you exactly use? The BPA free ones?

Well, that's fine. I tried the Dr. Brown's bottles as well, and didn't notice any difference whatsoever.

If the type of bottle really made a difference, why would breastfed babies get bad gas issues too? There's NO air bubbles coming out of the boob, LOL.

Well, I suppose that every baby is different, therefore different things are going to work/not work for each of them.
