Family..

I dont know what to do...

My step mom and I had this long drawn out talk about making this family thing work. We hadnt gotten along since my dad and her were married due to certain things like, It was under a year after my mom passed, and also, she was my moms best friend.
Ive had problems with my ex and asked my dads help to get custody back of my 3 year old. Didnt have money to afford a lawyer at the time, and step mom is filthy rich. They told me... "IDK what to tell you..." Pretty much a NO. Im torn. I want an effing family but its hard. Dad called and asked if I wanted to come to dinner at 6. My husband refuses to go because they turned me away. Pretty much turned my family away. My dads only grand-daughter and he wont help me fight for her. Im so fucking torn I dont know what to do. I want to cry and scream.....

Can anyone help with the situation? What do I do?

I think if you want to mend the relationship with your family it has to be without strings attached. So you have to want them in your life because, not because you want something from them.

But its ok, if my brother or her kids need anything from them, they get it?

I'm just saying that you have to decide what you want. Possibly your brother stuck around and put up with all the BS when you wern't so close with them. I'm not saying it's right, but its the situation your stuck with... so you have to decide if you want a relationship, or if you want monetarily assistance.

I just see it as, Ive been there when they have needed me, I really need them, and they turned away. My brother stuck around through times when my step mom was a raging alcoholic but I refused to put myself or my daughter through that. Am I wrong? I dont think so. My brother has kissed their ass to get their help when only I have tried to earn the respect.

I'm not saying your wrong... But your Step Mom has the money and she makes the choices. So it's up to you. But life isn't fair...
