Shaving

posted 17th Aug
I just wondered when you, or when you let your daughter, start shaving her legs. I can't for the life of me remember when I did. I remember I hid in the bathroom with my mom's razor, and wore pants until the hair grew back, lol!!
I'm asking because my daughter, who is 11 in 2 months, is begging me to let her shave. Her legs are REALLY hairy, lol. She says the kids in her class all shave, and she now refuses to wear shorts because she's embarassed.
I don't think letting her shave would be too big of a deal, but I warned her that once she starts, she can never stop, haha.
Should I make her wait, or let her go ahead?

My daughter started last year at 11 - she doesn't shave all the time only when she feels like it .

Yeah I was like 11/12. I first started using my Mom's, & never told anyone  . Then she figured out what I was doing, & just bought me my own.

i say if she is that hairy to let her... becuase she's not wanting to do it to be "cool" or older... but because it needs to be done lol

In my opinion I would let her go ahead, you don't want her doing it behind your back like we all did with our parents. Show her the proper way of doing it and if you don't feel comfortable with letting her have a razor try the nair, at least you will know that she won't cut herself. I think that is about the age when I started. Of course I did it all behind my moms back and now have scars from it...lol.

i think i was about 12 when i was "premitted" to shave.

Why dont you get her an electric razor, they are not dangerous for her to use, wont nick her or anything. It would make her feel better and make you feel better about letting her shave.

i started shaving when i was 12 but my legs wernt that hairy cause the hair were all blonde, but my mom made use the NAIR stuff for a little while till i was about almost 13. then i could shave but i wasnt allowed to shave to much past my knees.

wow i didnt start shaving my legs until i was probably 14.
but i have naturally blond hair and really didnt notice it
and even when i do shave it takes a good two weeks for it to grow to a length at all.

but i say if they're hairy and she feels like she wants to, then let her.

I actually was getting teased in school for my leg hair - I was in the 6th grade, and my mom and I battled about it for over six months before she broke down and bought me a safety razor.... but not after many days of me coming home crying because of how mean those kids were did she finally give up...

Ok, thanx for all your replies. It just makes me kinda sad....she's growing up. Next thing you know I'll be buying her bras and "feminine products"...*sniff*cry*
But yeah, I'd rather show her and help her than have her hide it from me. That's what I did. My mom would always tell me to go put shorts on, I'll die from the heat, but I couldn't show her my shaved legs! When she found out, it was no big deal.
