Underwear issues...

posted 17th Aug
Ok so someone told me today that I should be wearing underwear that goes over my bump. I'm assuming for support purposes. I'm still wearing my bikinis and I'm terrified to go look for underwear here as shopping for undies is not fun for me as I have a hard time finding stuff to fit usually.Stuff is just different here. Anyway,Is this really something that is important? It's the first i've heard of it being something I "need". Also, don't they make some kinds of waist band or something that is for support?

i never wore any type of "supportive" underwear...i don't see how a little bit of fabric and a little elastic can be that supportive! haha that's just me though.

There are alot of different types out there. I wear what ever type I find comfy. I have only worn the "maternity" support ones a few times with my first, but I dont rememberthem being any different that normal bikini underwear. My suggstion wear what ever you find comfy.

yuck... if I had to wear underware that covered my bump I would go crazy!! I never have. They make Maternity belts that can help with the supportive issue. But even those are really uncomfortable. I would just wait until you feel like you need the support. You still have a ways to go, I wouldn't worry about it!

I never did....I just wore bikinis the whole time. Besides, some maternity stores sell maternity bikinis and thongs that go under the bump.. It is just your preference.

I love the maternity belt... It feels soo good, it makes my back feel so much better... I'm sure it's all a metter of preference though.

I bought some maternity underwear, but it was thong, and wasn't "supportive' in any way, just bigger. Wear whatever makes you comfortable.

I'm almost 9 months and still wearing the bikini underwear. I have bought a bigger size recently just for comfort though. Even though I havn't really gained weight (only 7 lbs total), my hips have gotten wider so the smaller size gets tight in the leg holes.

Most of the ladies I talk to here on BG that are close to due date talk about hardly being able to stand wearing clothing, so I don't think your underwear choice is going to make a big difference!   All these pregger rules get a bit crazy! Good luck, I'd say go comfy!

Haha I know what you mean, people in asia have a whole different size range, I had to buy more underwear just today cause my hips are way wide and I had to get the extra larges!!! And asians have WAY too many pregnancy rules on top of it all, too (did you know that Cambodian women think that if you take showers at night the baby won't want to come out, lol!!), so just go with comfort!
