do i have to go to a childbirth class?

No, you dont have to..  

You don't have to, but I would HIGHLY recomend it!! It helped me sooo much. I would look into it if I were you!!

no you don't have have never been to them. They will tell you what to do when it happens!! My Dr. told me it was not worth the money because i would most likely forget it anyway, while being in labor.

im going to childbirth classes but i dont know how affective they will be. they tell you pain coping techniques and breathing excersizes for labor.

My doctor told me as long as I understood the terminology(sp?) they will be using in the delivery room, I don't really need them.

My df and I didn't have time so we just bought a dvd.
Of course you don't have t, but I learned a lot I wouldn't of known otherwise...and I didn't have to take a class for 5 weeks, we just watched a 'class' whenver we had time.
It's also helpful because you can watch it as many times as you need.

I didnt and i had my baby just fine.

I didn't and had a great, easy labor! The nurse told me to concentrate on breathing so I started meditating. While I was pushing the doctor said, "Sarah, open your eyes sweetie!" and there was my baby girl!

I went and it helped out a lot. I knew a lot of what they where saying but I got a lot of my questions answered and a lot of my fears went away. I took a 5 hourclass on a satuday and it was actually a lot of fun. It was a teen class too.

I really enjoyed mine and it also gave me ideas for more specific questions to ask my doctor. (Like apparently even though the hospital allows _ people in during delivery the doctor may allow less).
It made me feel better about the whole thing. Even the videos of actual births. Some people it freaks them out but once I saw it I was like... I can do that!   Once the head it out the rest just flows in like 2 seconds.
I just would... suggest going.
