BH Concern

posted 16th Aug
My grandmother told me today, since I told her that I havent been having BH since I was like 27, 28wks,and she saidthat when you have BH it means that the baby is pushing down and getting ready for birth and that their also pushing on your cervix. Well today Ive been having them all day and even some back to back and lasting between 30-35 seconds. And I dont want to call my doctor and have togo to the hospital for them to only send me back home, so Ima just wait until monday to talk with her about it.I've also been feeling more and more pressure in my thighs and it hurts for me to walk.So my question is have any other of you all of a sudden just got BH out the blue and was starting to dialate or had your baby like a couple days later? I just want to know if Im the only person who went through this and could this be a sign of my labor slowly approaching.

BH are just uterine contractions... it does not mean baby is coming... I had them from around 17/18 weeks with my first.. this one I've had them since 7 weeks...

they do say you can have more BH near the end of the pregnancy, but it doesnt necessarily mean anything is going to happen anytime soon.

BH prepare your body for the real thing, but do not mean that labor is anywhere close. I started having them around 22 weeks, and they got stronger around 30 weeks. I was induced at 39.5 weeks because I was not progressing what so ever. Like I said BH really don't mean anything!

I am almost 22 weeks & have been having BH for a few weeks now, & did the same thing with my other 2 kids. They are even intense at times, but I still had to be induced with both of mine. BH are nowhere near strong enough to cause you to dialate. Your uterus contracts all the time, even when you are not pregnant. You just can't feel it when there is nothing in there, so when you are pregnant & it is so much bigger, of course you feel it more. Even the week before I had my 2nd son, I had BH ALL WEEK & only dialated from 1cm to 2cm. I thought I was in real labor, but it still wasn't enough. You will most definitely know it if you go into preterm labor. contractions are intense & last much longer than 30 seconds, & they will come continuously every few minutes, increasing in intensity & duration. We all love our grandma's & they mean well, but most of the time, their info is outdated & just plain false.
