re: Redefining abortion.

Quoting mama3:“ It took a while for me to decide to use the IUD, becasue my family is so against it, but the reason I ... [snip!] ... abortions from it why are there people getting pregnant on it? Also It took me four months to concieve after getting it out.”

I'm one of those nerds that reads the Rx pamplet that comes along with the medication. I too read that they are not sure if one thing or many things results from the IUD.
1. thinning the uterine lining out so that an egg can not implant
2. not allowing semen into the uterus/fallopion tubes
3. not allowing an egg to be released

If IUD is considered an abortion due to reason #1, then wouldn't BFing be the same? I mean, BFing releases hormones that thins your uterine lining out (hence why some women do not menstruate or get pregnant). There is actually a much higher risk for uterine perforation while using the IUD with nursing moms since our uterus is already thin from nursing hormones.

So far, the IUD has been nice to me. I have no cycle, no pregnancies, and for five years I don't have to worry about refilling an Rx. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't help with acne and every time around what should be my cycle, I get a horrible outbreak. Errr.

Thanks for this information actually, because I was considering Mirena but didn't know entirely. Now I'm 100% sure it's what I want.

I am the same way and I love the Mirena, I used to be against it until I researched it myself

I am so unbelievably offended by this. It may not be making birth control illegal, but it sure as hell will make it unaffordable to many.

And if they can't afford the pill, they can't afford the baby most likely. And it's so unfair to do that to people.

UGH. JUST SO MAD.

I agree.
I was starting to get confused.. you can get an abortion still.
They're just making it harder for people to prevent the need for an abortion

The instances of birth control causes problems with a pregnancy or fertility issues are so slim its ridiculous to base any of this on those what ifs.

Its all fine and dandy to spout off cases where the birth control method caused more harm than good, but in all actuality... The percentage of people who this decision would be detrimental to is higher than those who have had bad experiences with birth control.

I totally get what you're saying... but i don't agree. This will most definitely do more harm than good

I also wanted to add that the IUD is not recommended for someone who has never had children, but I think for those who have at least two. So, it's not like we have teenagers walking around with IUD's. Many women with IUD's are in the same situation as most of us on here (married or commited relationships, with more than two kids).

Exactly. I have 2 kids and do not want any more until way down the road. If we even decide on more.

They also do not want people who are not in a commited relationship on the IUD. You need to have kids, be in a commited relationship, and healthy.

Do you necessarily have to have had a vaginal birth to get an IUD? What about women who have had children by c-section, and have not gone into labor?

hahahahahah......thats great!!

I am pro-life, but you know what....America NEEEEEEDS birth control! I know son many younger kids that are on it. So many of the babies...and I mean babies will be popping out babies....hurting them selves, and the child that they are giving birth to. I remember when I was in middle school people were having sex. Think about how young they are having sex nowa days! There are women that cant use condoms....bc they are allergic to condoms....what are they suppose to do?? Just have babies are not have sex at all? Im sorry no one is gonna stop having sex because they cant have birth control....and i know there not gonna use something they cant use! This bothers me that someone would even think about this!
