putting baby on a schedule?

posted 16th Aug
How old were your babies when you put them on a schedule? I want to eventually have Rylee on a schedule, but have no idea when to start it. I feel like right now is way too early ( shes a week old today).
And what does your schedule look like?

Adrien kind of started to work himself onto a schedule at about 8 weeks. Even then, you have to be flexible and pay attention to what works for them for that day. It takes them awhile to get the hang of a regimented schedule.

BTW....Your girl is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!! Congrats!

ha!

schedule?

you mean for sleep or what?

babies do what they want.

if you're talking about sleep, well, just be consistent and make sure you start doing quiet things, dim the lights, nurse/feed before bedtime etc.

they adapt quite quickly if you're consistent.

Elliot never had a schedule but, I stayed at home and it didn't matter.

Piper fell into one on her own. Thankfully it fits our schedule.

She falls asleep around 7pm. wakes up at 10pm for dinner and a bath and we are back to sleep by 12am. she gets up at about 6:30am to go to daycare.

I really didnt even start to think about a schedule until 2 months. Shes slowly worked herself into a schedule of sorts now (shes 3 months). She is pretty routined in what time she wakes up, naps and goes to bed at night. Feedings I still leave up to her, when shes hungry she eats, if shes not, she doesnt. She consistently eats every 3 hours though so even that is somewhat routined.

I started at 4 weeks. My daughter is now 4 months and sleeps 12 hrs a night, eats every 4 hrs. during the day. She is a happy, healthy.
8am: 8 oz. bottle, cereal
10-12: Nap
12: 8oz.bottle
2-4: Nap
4: 8 oz.Bottle
7:30: bath, the 8 oz. bottle
It took some work, some tears but shes a very happy, not fussy baby and I beleive this schedule has helped her disposition
Of course starting out you have to so a 2 1/2-3 hr. schedule. PM me if you want more info

My daughter just kind of fell into a schedule the older she got. She is now 8 weeks old, and sleeps through the night without feedings. She has basically slept through the night from the day we came home with her, but would wake up for feedings every 3 hours exactly. Now she gets a bottle about 9ish and sleeps until about 6-7am! I guess we just got lucky with her

Your daughter is such a doll!!!!

Thats good! A lot of my friends have newborns also, and they have had problems with them not sleeping at night. I guess we were just blessed to have babies that sleep! Lol.

When Allie was about 5-6 weeks old I had to start back to work. So we started to try andget her into a small routine to let her know bed time was close. She gets a bath every night at 8pm a bottle right afterwards, and then bed. It is kind of hard at first to give them a bottle right after their bath because they may ofhad a bottle at 7 due to their schedule. My daughters doctor told us that as long as she eats no less than 2 hours than she can have a bottle. So if her feeding just so happen to be at 6pm, we would still give her a bottle after her 8pm bath. It has helped Allie get familiar with going to bed after her 8ish bottle.

Sorry if I lost you!LoL!

you really shouldn't expect your baby to sleep through the night for the first two or three months at all.

their tummies are too tiny to let them sleep w/out getting hungry every three hours.

if you're using forumla to feed, it may slow down the hungry feeling a bit, but i still wouldn't count on getting a full night's sleep for a while.

max is five months now and he usually sleeps through the night, but sometimes still wakes up around four. (he's exclusively breastfed, so his system digests the milk quite rapidly in comparison w/ what formula does to a baby's system).

my baby will be 3 wks on Monday, I have to wake her every 4 hrs at night to feed her.
How old does she have to be before I can let her sleep longer? She goes to bed at 7 and wakes every morning at 9

Don't worry hun! It is fine if she sleeps a little longer than her feeding schedule. MOST doctors will tell you to not wake a baby up for feedings, because they will wake up when they are hungry. If she sleeps all night with out waking up, than let her sleep.
