My first child was 9 pounds. This go around my doctor said if he suspects that this child is that size or bigger, he would induce me.

Dont let them talk you into a c-section if your not comfortable with it. A lot of woman give birth to big babies. The night my son was born another lady gave birth to a 10 pound baby boy vaginally with no problems!!

I'm measuring about 4 cm bigger too and I am having another u/s on the 27th for fetal growth. My son was almost 10 pounds, and I did have to have a c section. But having a big baby doesn't always mean you will. Lots of moms have their babies vaginally even bigger than that. It's just that it may be more likely. I hear inducing leads to higher chances of having one though, so maybe talk to your doc about that.

grr this is one of my pet peeves. doctors scaring women into Csections for threatend large babies.
I have always measured large with my pregnancies. And when they did the Bio Physicals babies were high normal. At 37 weeks all my kids weighed over 7lbs. And were born at 38-39 weeks weighing 8.8, 8.4, and 8.15. I had them vaginally and did just fine. I'm not an overly large person either. Just 5'2.
I would say try not to worry to much. And definately do some reseach about vaginal deliveries of larger babies.

It may not be the baby measuring big. In my last pregnancy I had a big placenta ( I can't remember what the scientific word for it is) And that made me measure a few weeks early

they cannot force you into one...Just be up front with them about not wanting unless it is medically needed to save you and or the childs life....

I think its crazy when doctos say that womans babies are "to big" for them to birth....our bodies were specifically built to birth babies!!! Keep in mind that it is YOUR body and you are paying that doctor to take care of YOUR needs!
