Convertible CarSeat?

posted 16th Aug
Ayla is too long and heavy for her infant seat now, and I've been price checking the carseats, and can't find a nice one for cheap enough.
I've already checked Target, Wally World, Babies R Us, and Strollers.com, and the cheapest is WalMart for $50....but that seat seems a little uncomfortable to me.

Suggestions?

I got one its a Graco at Target and we paid $80. We had gotten a cosco one tried putting it and it wouldn't get tight no matter what we tried doing so we just took it back and got the Graco one.

That is what we have and we love it. and have had no problems with it.

Hm, my big problem as well is my MIL wants to buy it, and doesn't want to wait for me to gather my own money for it, so she is going for super cheap, or extra used, like thrift store used, and they are all dirty and gross with juice stains and cracker crumbs from other kids.

I have a PINK walmart seat and we have been using it since 6 months (she is 14 months old now) and i don't regret buying it

We will continue to use it until its time to move to a booster seat.. Then I see what is on the market and within our budget

I bought a black one for my husband's truck and my parents bought 2 black ones (one for my daughter and one for her cousin) for their truck.

Yes the Cosco is a pain to get tight..but its not impossible either !! Hailey has 3 of these seats and they work perfectly..

2003 Chevy Blazer-Rear Facing
2001 Ford 150 truck-Forward Facing
2007-Chevy Truck-Forward Facing

I saw a very nice convertible Safety 1st seat at Kmart for $80 that was brown and pink the other day.. Then Graco has seats for $80 .

All car seats are safe !!

If I was rich and had $300 to blow..I would of bought a Britax.. But $300 would makeeither a car, truck or a house payment..

i have the costco seneca one from wal mart that was super cheap.

ava likes it, but i worry if we were ever in an accident, it just doesnt seem very safe. i am hoping to get a new one once i move in to my new place and pay my deposit. if they sell it, im sure its pretty safe, but i have carried ava in it while she was sleeping to change to a diff car, and the seat can bend from the weight...that just doesnt seem safe to me at all.

I would not use a 2nd hand one. You dont know if it has been in a wreck, if the previous owner has washed the straps (big no-no), or any of its history. You could always call up WIC or the health department. They give away free seats if you meet the income criteria.

ETA: Go to http://www.car-seat.org. The ladies there are very helpful.
