Nursing Covers?
posted 16th Aug
Did any mommies out there who breast fed ever purchase a nursing cover or wrap? Are they worth it or did you just throw a blanket over you and the baby for privacy?

Waste of money, a blanket works so much better!

I rarely BF in public. The only time I BF outside of the house is a few times I have in the car parked somewhere. I usually offer a bottle if she gets hungry and we are out somewhere. It's either filled with breastmilk or formula.
I am in the midst of making my own sling, so if I do need to BF in public, I will feed her in there.

I made one, I already had tons of material just had to have a few pieces. But I dont think I ever used it. My middle daughter was put in the hospital right after the baby was born so with all the stress I forgot to pack it in the diaper bag. I believe I still have it some where and might use it with this baby, but a blanket worked just as well and I had those with me already because it was January and cold outside.

My Amelie was only born on Wednesday, but we've had a ton of company so Ive had to cover up quite a bit so far.
I bought a nursing cover, which i've used once and it worked nicely while I was eating because the part that goes around your neck is stiff and rounded so you can keep an eye on your little one without picking up a blanket. But the rest of the time I've used a receiving blanket and it worked fine.
The real pluses to the nursing covers are :
a) you don't have to worry about it falling down if you are doing something else (like eating)
b) you can watch your baby while still having privacy
I waited till one went on sale online (I think I paid $25 for it it is a Peanut shell)
It was worth the money, but on the same note if I didn't have the cash for one I could live without it.
