posted 16th Aug

Will my baby get sick if I breast feed her and I am feeling sick, I don't have a fever or anything just feel a lil wozzy and my stomach hurts?!? I think it was something I ate...does everything I eat affect her for example spicy food or beans? thanks

Nope, actually breastfeeding is the best thing you can so. It will give her the necessary antibodies against whatever you have.
Just stay hydrated, eat what you can, and take your prenatals to replace and nutrients you might lose if you can't eat.

yes to the spicy foods and not sure about beans.. but if you're sick, its better if you feed her because you're blood is full of antibodies trying to fight it..

which is why they say breast is best..

I got the cold twice since she was born. and SO got the flu.. she got sick once, but because of something else.. but the times when we were sick, she was totally fine..

It may effect her. You may want to avoid the spicy foods, onions, anything like that where it affects your tummy will really effect the baby. Although stopping breastfeeding because you feel sick isn't necessary go ahead and feed her and she'll probably be fine. I never stopped when I was sick they get your immunities more then your illness through breastfeeding. Just make sure you wash your germy hands or use hand sanitizer so that she doesn't get your sicky germs and she'll be fine.

No, the baby will not get sick from breastfeeding. As long as you are taking normal precautions to not pass it on to her (i.e. handwashing, not coughing on her, not kissing on the mouth, etc), then she shouldn't get sick and should in fact benefit from the antibodies your body will produce and pass through the milk. The spicy foods might cause her to be gassier, or they may not affect her at all. That's one of those areas where it's a try and see thing. You may find that some things you eat don't affect you, but they affect her, or something that affects you doesn't bother her at all. It's trial and error finding what you can and can't eat.

I got a cold a little while ago, i took antibotics because she ended up with the cold too so we had to fight it off together. But if your tummy hurts and she's fussy or not feeling well it's probably affecting her as well. all my pregnancy i craved spicy hot and mexican food. I was worried about her because i'm BFing but she doesn't get bother by it. It all depends on your baby.

She may have caught what you have, but it's not from breastfeeding. She will get over it quicker if you are breastfeeding though...

With the foods you eat it's kind of trial and error, it affects some babies and not others.

i wondered about the strange poop colors of my baby too.
i'm breastfeeding and he is not fussy, but it goes anywhere between reddish, orange, yellow and green. Sometimes it concerns me a bit, because I'm not sure, if all is working well in that little body...

The color can vary with your diet.
