re: why you don't want to be a statistic in wikipedia

buiding this forum is my way of supporting teen parenting.

it's certainly not a judgement.

i'm 21yearsold and a mother of a 2 year old son and another boy due in August. I'm not saying i think your completely wrong i was 19 when my son was born so i wasnt that young of a teen but i do understand how hard it is and in all honesty i dont think the difficulty would be any different had i been 30 when he was born. And you talk about "good mothers" well wasnt that woman susan smith in her 30's when she drowned her kids, or how bout the rich doctor in north carolina a few years ago who came home and killed his twin girls he wasnt a teen either. In fact i know that there are teen parents out there who arent good parents, but then again there's bad parents intheir 20's 30's 40's ... i mean why does it just have to be a crisis when teen girls are having kids??? In the bible Mary was 13 when Jesus was born why is it a crisis now for young women to have kids??

I completely agree with the statisitcs. I am currently a school teaching in the Philadelphia school district and to get technical my school is in the projects. The mass majority of the parents in this school were teen moms and the kids have fifteen different fathers. I will be frank I HAVE NO RESPECT for them. My experiences have been these teen moms send thier child to school sick, poorly dressed, dirty, and more times than not underfed. I have to pick up the pieces and try to repair the damage that these teen moms have done. The behavior problems that I face because of these teen moms is sickening. They spend so little time with their child that the child does not know how to act in public. Then when the child smacks a teacher the parent wants to know what the teacher did to the child. WOW what kind of person am I to ask your child to sit down. I mean really I must be a real bitch. Next when it comes time for report cards these teen parents never show up and when called they never answer the phone. So yes I agree with the statistics because a good 70 percent of the parents of my students were poping out babies at 12, 13, 14, 15 years old. As the old saying goes just because you are old enough to bleed doesn't mean you need to breed. Too many people who should have kept thier legs shut are breeding and producing children with all sorts of fun learned behaviors like ODD and whatnot. So think before you act if you are a teenager STOP BREEDING AND KEEP YOUR LEGS SHUT. By doing that you will be doing the world a favor.

Just because those teen parents were like that does not mean that all of them are. There are alot of teen parents that are VERY involved in their childrens lives. Yes, I know that some of those parents arent mature enough to be having children, but just because they are like that does not mean you should bash the ones that arent. Alot of them realized that they had to grow up and mature because they had a child on the way. And what about my husband and I, we were married before we concieved and our daughter was a planned baby. We may still be in the "teen" category but he has a full time job and makes good money - enough to where I have the choice to stay at home with her and watch her grow. I dont have to get a baby sitter, and I'm sure as hell not a partier. I will be home to talk to her teachers about report cards and go to conferences and such. And yes I do agree with you that 13,14, and 15 year olds shouldnt be having kids, but we do not live in a perfect worldand it happens. However, I do know a few girls who had their children that young, and they had good supportive parents who didnt throw them out. Their parents helped them finish school and raise their kids until they wereon their feet.I know alot of people see them and automatically turn their minds towards abortion - but have you ever had a child ripped out of you? I wouldnt be able to go through with something like that. I've known people who've had it done and regret it because it scars you for life. And as for us teens "popping them out", yes their are some girls who back-to-back them and cant handle it,but their are also the ones who are getting on birth control and using protective methods after their child is born, for example me. And yes I agree thatI'veseen some teen girls who have tonsofdifferent "baby-daddy's" but thats so not all of us. I cant stand promiscuous behavior and do not respect those people who use it.So before you bash all the teens that are mothers because of the scum you have met - take a real look around and dont be so judgemental. Not everyone is like those girls.

Thank you. I've said it before...but nobody seems to understand that.

I do not get aggravated by statistics because I know I am not one of those teens. If you know you aren't the one the statistic applies to, then don't sweat it.

teenager STOP BREEDING AND KEEP YOUR LEGS SHUT....
i think that was VERY uncalled for....
we are all on this website to find support from other women who are going through the sames things, to be judgmental is soo rude
im 19 years old, did good in school, ive been working since i was 15 and i have bin with my boyfriend for 2 years this pregnancy was unexpected but we talked about it and we love eachother, and couldnt terminate our 1st child , we chose to take responsibility for our actions , i dont plan to be part of these statistics, i know some are true,i know alot of young girls who had babys back to back . i always said i wanted my children close in age but now ive changed my mind and im going on birth control right after this pregnancy because at this young age having another baby wont be an option for about 5 years , well my point is , you shouldnt have come on here to attack us like that ....

what is ODD?

and they weren't breeding... they were having sex.

yelling at them now doesn't do a bit of good anyway. they're on here b/c they're pregnant-- you might do better to stand on a steet corner and yell that at random teenagers than do it here.

I got pregnant at 15, married at 16 (he was 20 and also the father of my son & unborn!), graduated high school midterm, moved out of town two different times so my husband could finish college (Geo Engineering might I add!   ) -- he ended up joining the military (Air Force!) -- he got stationed here in Little Rock, Arkansas and we've been here for over a year! I'm now 19 (will be 20 in July) and I'm now expecting my second in September! I have not once relied on welfare nor have I let my son down in any way that one would probably look down upon. Life is fantastic now and we're doing great in every way possible! I don't condone teen pregnancy by all means, but I do believe that the things we are being pointed out for, adults are JUST AS GUILTY for!

It's also the negativity of some people that brought FOCUS to those statistics.
