re: why you don't want to be a statistic in wikipedia

posted 29th Aug
I'm 18, and don't consider myself a "teen mom," only because I knew what I was doing and knew the result that could have came, and I'm responsible enough to do this. My mother did it with my brother Alex, and she's giving me WONDERFUL support along with my baby's father, my mom's boyfriend, all of my friends, and my doctors. Just thought I'd throw this out there, YOU CAN DO IT. As long as you're responsible.

Not saying much apart from. I'm 18 & 13weeks pregnant. My fiance is 21 & we planned to have our baby. People keep sayin how teen pregs happen accidentally THEY DONT. Teens know that no contraception can lead to pregnancies or std's! If your old enough to have sex then your old enought to take responsibility. Most of my friends have had kids. One of them was planned the rest was accidental. Some of the fathers are there, some arent. They still go out on a weekend or go to college. Havin a baby doesnt stop u it just takes a lil time to get into a routine. Me, my fiance and families were thrilled when i finally found out i was pregnant. I wouldn't change it for the world. Being a young parent is sometimes better. Most 30 year old women that have a career then have kids tend to go back to work after a couple of months leavin there baby with a nanny or in nursery. My fiance will be working and i will have time everyday to bond and spend all my time with my child. I respect teen moms. but some are stupid. it just depends on the maturity of that person...

That was probably the most patronising and condescending thing I have ever read. I really don't think anyone has the right to judge anyone, let alone just because they got pregnant at a young age.

m sorry i don't care if i am or am not a "statistic" because honestly everyone is a statistic in this world. Whether it, be your race, your gender, your age OR if your a Teen Mom. So why should anyone who expecting a BLESSING care if they are to be a statistic or not. at least we aren't a statistic of people who murder. We aren't the worst thing to happen..We're plainly and simply. pregnant.

Wikipedia is not a valid source of information. Any school teacher will tell you that they will not accept any information obtained from Wikipedia on any project because anyone can make an account and post these so called facts. Check your sources before posting.

These statistics actually help me reading. I am 18 years old and 4 months pregnant. I am graduated from High School and Currently in college. These statistics give me goals to set for myself. I am so ready to grow up and i have already started. It saddens me to see some of my friends who are pregnant who havent changed their ways at all! all i know is i would never ever do anything to harm my baby so i make sure i do the best. as far as going out. i hang out with friend once a month and thats usually just a movie. I work full time and although me and the father are not together, we are very close and he is working full time. This just helps me to know what i need to do. to set goals for myself to always be there for my child <3

Quoting Ginger_g:" I'm a teenage mother and don't have no support from my family or friend just my boyfriend the thing we ... [snip!] ... etc. so as long as you educate yourself and educate your child ( And of course more then school) any person can raise a child "

How old are you??
"...differents..."?? It's difference...
"...Don't have no support..."?? Thats a double negative. Try: "I'm a teenage mother and don't have ANY support"
"As long as you educate yourself...." Which clearly you didn't.

I'm an 18 year old, I'm graduating this year. I have a job and am looking for a better more relaxed one. Heavy lifting just isn't my thing right now. My fiance is also looking for a better paid job.

I won't apologize for being a grammar nazi once in a while.
But please, don't post on a thread about how you're supposedly not a statistic and spell almost everything wrong, use double negatives, and involve unnecessary slang.

I don't know what school you went to, but send you're child to a better one.

Again, I apologize.... Just go and actually educate yourself before you tell everyone else to.

I applaud other teen mothers who have beat the statistics and brought their children into a world providing them with stability and love.
Hopefully, I can be one of those mothers too when my little one gets here.
I will admit I've arranged to be on WIC and a recieving government healthcare through the pregnancy.
Lets be honest, $7.25/hour just won't pay those expensive doctor's bills. If government healthcare will provide my child with the attention it needs whilst still being developed then I'm happy he/she is being looked at, at all.
I'm not ashamed for seeking help from the government. I am working towards an assistance free life. But for now, as long as my baby is healthy and cared for I will take anything I can get.
Government help isn't shamefull, it's there so you CAN take advantage of it when you NEED it. That's not permission to be lazy and rely on it for your entire life.
It's a helper. Get on your feet kind of thing.
I actualy found Mara's post very helpful and knowledgable. Thank you.

**Excited for my baby girl (Annika) or boy (Flynn) <3
