Blood Pressure

What's the highest the doctor will let your blood pressure get before they're worried...how high is too high?

140/90 is when they start to worry about pre-eclampsia.

i dont no but my damn heart rate keeps going up! she told me to take magnesium. SP?

I took mine a little while ago and it was 135/98. And my right arm is hurting a swollen more than usual...I couldn't even get my wedding band off. I don't want to call the on-call nurse at the doctor's office b/c all they ever tell you is that you should go to the emergency room whether you really need to or not. I've already been through that once. And then when you do go b/c the nurse told you to go, you get to the hospital and they treat you like you stupid for coming b/c there isn't anything that seriously wrong with you. I just don't want to go through that again so I thought I'd get some opinions on here.

If it doesn't stop in the next little while, I'll probably go ahead and call the nurse.

If I was you, I would get a doctors appointment as soon as possible and then just make them test you for protein in your urine if your worried about it.

Also why do you have to go to the er instead of l&d? If things get worry some I would go to the l&d but I dont know how your hospital works.

My hospital has "The Birthplace", that's where I'd have to go. I guess they just say the emergency room. If I were to go to the emergency room, they wouldn't see me other than to take my blood pressure and all, then they take me over to the Birthplace triage. I don't know exactly what L&D is other than what it stands for...labor and delivery. I don't know the difference between you L&D and my Birthplace.

Oh well if its the same thing, then just go to the birthplace to get checked out. But if you think you can wait until monday (your not having any other problems) then I would wait until then to get checked out...just make sure your doctors sees you then.
But if you do that, keep in mind if you do have pre-eclampsia that it can happen quickly so if your having other signs to go in and make sure everything is ok.
Its better to be safe then sorry.
