any ladies get brown discharge in the 2nd trimester?

I know this might be a bit tmi and it's not actually something I am experiencing but a close friend of mine is also pregnant and due Dec. 25th so that puts her at about 21 weeks I believe, she just texted me saying she is spotting brown dishcarge and is really worried, her Dr. hasn't called her back yet and she is really freaking out.
I have already told her to go to the ER or L&D if she is really that worried but I never had it while I was pregnant with Nia or this one so I don't know what else to say to make her feel better in the mean time. I just wanted to ask on here to maybe get some reassurance for her while she waits for her fiance to come home and take her in about 20 min. My gut instinct is that the baby is most likely okay but I know how scary things can be when it's your first pregnancy and I don't want her to stress out. Thanks in advance!

I have it all the time & I'm also due on Christmas.
I go into L&D everytime, too. I'm a regular there. Haha.
They found a tear in my placenta last time & I was having contractions.
She can go in, they'll ease her mind.

thanks so much for your response! I really hope her and her bebe are okay, it's probably something small if anything at all but pregnancy can be so nerve racking the first time around especially and I just feel for her right now and how worried she is.

Not a problem, I was asking the same question on here not too long ago
I'm sure everything will be okay but I do understand why she's worried.
Being a first time mom and having all of these things happen to you can be scary!

yeah for sure, she just actually talked to her doctor and he said if she isn't cramping/contracting or having any of those symptoms along with it then it's normal and lots of women experience it. She said she felt baby move since spotting too so she isn't going to go into the ER but he told her to keep an eye on it and if it gets bright in colour or more amounts of it then she should right in to the hospital to get checked.
Thanks agian for your help =)
