constipation

my baby os two weeks old tommorow. i had a fever for about two dayys so was forced to formla feed her. so now shes like contsipated she poops in small bits. but i feel so bad because shes pushing so hard shes turning red and all she can get out is a small fart.. and no poop .. anything i can do to help her.. shes having a hard time sleeping because shes to busy pushing  \


so anyone know how to help her out??

1/2 oz to an oz of prune juice. You can mix it in with some breastmilk or give it to her straight. It should help but only do it once a day. My daughter responds really well to it but be careful on how much you give her....their poops can get runny!! Good luck!

I have the same problem with my 3 week old and our pedi told us today to give 1/2 tsp DARK karo syrup in every other feeding. (We are formula fed)

My pedi said that Karo syrup can lead to respitory issues in babies. He preferred to use the prune juice b/c its like a natural remedy!

Ive heard you shouldnt use any juices in babies this young because it can cause allergies later. *shrugs* I just go by what our pedi tells us-hes the one with the degree and its what we pay him for lol

Yea i think the prune juice is a bad idea. i never heard of giving an infant any juices. my ped said 1/2 tsp of karo to 2 oz water. and LIGHT karo, not dark. *shrugs too* lol. everybody on here has different opinions...ask ur ped to know whats right for ur babe! GOOD LUCK!!
