Not sleeping enough

* I posted this yesterday but wanted to update to see if i could get any more responses I'm not sure if I should contact his pedi about it.

Ok I know normally most people write and say their baby isn't sleeping through the night, but mine is kind of the opposite. This week my son has not been sleeping during the day at all. He is in bed by midnight every night and wakes up every 3 to 4 hours to eat during the night. He's usually awake by 6 or 7 in the morning and stays up all day. He does get tired I can see his eyes getting droopy but he wont go to sleep and he gets soooo fussy. I can never get him to sleep no matter what I try and I'm just worried he's not getting enough sleep. Has anyone had this problem or know if it's bad that he's not sleeping much?
Forgot to add that he is 6 weeks old.

He probably has 5 minute 10 minute etc naps all day - those add up !

Some babies just aren't sleepers ...

My daughter never slept - except at night with wakings for feedings .
She's 2 now but she never ever napped for more than 20 minutes ever - from birth she has been awake all she can be . She just hates sleeping . Some kids are just like that.

I give him a bath before bed everynight. I have tried taking him out but he just screamed the whole time.

Yesterday he only slept once for 15 minutes. Another time for 30 mintues. Then he took an hour nap at 6:30 pm. He cries most of the time if he is awake unless I'm up and bouncing with him.

go google.. the 90 min sleep cycle.. in fact if you have the money go buy the book.. it REALLY makes sense, and its all based of fact. Also google the Circadian rhythms .. Inform yourself about the natural sleep cycles and things will get easier.. i promise.

hes fussy because hes soooooo tired. I had the same problem until i got that book.. and i read about it, and informed myself.. IM telling you knowledge is power, lol.. next time he sleeps for say 20 mins or more, note the wake time and try to put him to sleep 90 mins later from his wake time.. well he needs to be sleeping 90 mins later so starting putting him to sleep about 70 mins later.. give it a few days before you give up.. you just have to teach him that sleep is good.
