development question

posted 15th Aug
SO i watch a little boy 2 monhs younger than my 10 month old an im worried he acts alot different then any other baby i have seen and i used to work ina day care so i have watched lots of kids his age to see a difference. he has been trying to pull himself up for a while and i have found he usually instantly falls due to no strengh in his legs an he only stays up if he holds on for dear life. So my question is how do i help him get some leg strength? i worked with my son at a very young age but he is now 8 months old and wont let me do anything like move him legs or wont jump in the jumpy either.

put his feet on top of yours and take baby steps.. his legs will be moving with yours and it will also help him know how to move his feet properly... thats what we did with my niece when she was trying to pull up and it worked well with her...

have you talked to his pediatrician?

he might need early intervention...my son did, they come to your house and do pt and ot with him.

Hold him up and try and let him walk, or hold his hands and let him climb on your chest, my husband did that with our girls and it really seemed to help them. You just have to find what works for you. Don't give up though he will get it!

weird..i would just stand him up..we used to do this stand tall game with zoe scince she was like two months old where you hold her off the ground and say stand tall and she stands up strait..now all we have to do is say stand tall and she stands.

he isnt my son though and he crawls and everything he just doesnt have much strength my son did surprisingly well pulling himself up which he has been doing since he was 6 months he didnt fall unless he let go for longer than a minute. idk i have never seen a child have so much issue with pulling up on something as steady as what he tries to pull himself up on.

All babies are different. my pedi told me not to compare her to others. I had an inhome daycare for 13 years in NC and had 56 kids thru there, not counting keeping all my cousins kids, so believe me I saw kids! Not counting taking childcare for 2 years. So my pedi said no comparing!!! lol He said Emily is far advanced in some areas, but lagging in others. She is 5 months and 1 week and has not rolled over yet .. she is just now liking tummy time some and is now just really holding her head up while on her tummy. Now she sits supported extremely well (just holding the tops of her legs, not her waist). Many others are and have been rolling for months and lifting their heads from that position. So see gien time he just might be alright. But I would try maybe a walker too ... doesn't hurt to help. Maybe talk with his parent(s) see if maybe they realize this (they may not). JMO

i did mention it to his mom she said she didnt have as much time to work with him like she did her oldest but for his age he has very little leg strength so i just want to help him along i do have a walker i will try that also.
