student loan consolidation...

posted 15th Aug
Well I consolidated my student loans, and I am so relieved that I am not going to be paying nearly $400 a month anymore in student loans. The plan I was on with Great Lakes student loans was a 10 year plan, and they would not offer me any type of extended time nor did they have any type of deferment plan for me since I am working and done with school. I had another loan that just went from being due every 3 months to once a month, so that's why the monthly payments were that amount. But now my monthly payments are less than $200 and that is so much relief for me! Thank God!

Yayy for consolidation now you have extra money to spend for baby, or put away for savings.

I know! Not only am I able to save up a lot more now each pay period, but I can also put more into my little bucket I have building up to buy all the baby stuff I am going to need that nobody has given us by the time the baby comes!
God is good!

I just got my first student loans and I'm terrified. Granted I don't have to start paying until I'm done getting my Bachelors, which depending on credit hours per semester, will be between 2-3 years...but still, it's a lot of money that I don't have.

my advice...either pay some of it back now if you can so it isn't so overwhelming when you graduate, or get as little loans as you can in the future. Most of my loans are just from my freshman year...I had no money management skills what so ever.
