No you cant both claim the baby. WHen the time comes just work it out both ways after you get the w-2s and forms and see which one brings you a better refund or less to pay in. Technically its supposed to be which spends more money on them and whichever they live with the most if the two of you don't live together. But just do some calculations and see which one works better for you.

my bf and i are in the same situation.. the question 4 us since we live together and our money is all put into one was who made more this year... the more you make the more you get back and since he makes more than me right now its on him.

Personally, I would claim my child, I mean I did carry the baby for 9 months right. lol, then maybe you can alternate until you get married. But depending on when the baby is born, you might not even have to worry about that until 2010, I was talking with a friend and her son is 4 months and he cant be claimed until 2009 or 10 i think she said. But thats just hear say... dont take my answer as a definate.

Naturally since you carried the child, you should claim the baby. But then it would be best if the person with the higher income claimed the child. I really don't know I am taking a guess, because of what I would do. Good Luck!

not true, I claimed my daughter, themore you make, the less they give you for child tax. If you make more than 11, or 12,000 and year you get less. But the closer you get to 11 or 12,000 you get more. I got 2,800 for my daughter. and i made close to 10, 000.

Not true, depends on who you go to to do your taxes. I gave birth to my daughter in Oct 2006, and She was only 4months old during tax time, and I got to claim her. And with this one, She'll be due in Dec 08 and shell be 2months and im claiming her as well.

I say you claim the baby. Some tax preparers can also do joint taxes even if youre not even married. But its best the mom claim the baby. They'll even tell u that. If they do research theirs a greater chancce that the father can get an investigation instead of the mother. I do my girl, and girls to come this tax time.
