Pregnancy: 9 months or 10?

posted 15th Aug
Ok, so even tho this is my third pregnancy, I have some questions about gestation, I have a doctors appt Tues. So I'll badger her then but until then, how is it that I am 8 months and two weeks....33 weeks to be exact, but a full term pregnancy is 40 weeks? Wouldn't full term be in two weeks when I turn nine months? Help me get it together ladies....I understand but I dont. My first son was due July14, but I had to get induced July 28th cuz he DID NOT want to come out, but when he did, he was plump, alert (no crying) eyes wide open, long nails, long hair...My second son was born two days after his due date and it took him a minute to even breathe (he was blue) and screaming for dear life, his eyes were shut, and his skin did not appear to be completely filled out like my first boy. Who says full term is 40 weeks?

Full term is 37-42 weeks - technically its 10 months or 9 complete months depending on how you look at it - you deliver at the beginning of your 10th month or the end of your 9th month.

I don't understand how people say 10 months, when you give birth at the end of your 9th month. You do not complete a whole extra month to make it 10!

Nine lunar months or doctors would say pregnancy is ten months long. Unless of course the medically trained professionals with6 +years of schooling are wrong, somehow I doubt it............
