almost 5 and starts bedwetting

posted 15th Aug
My daughter has been potty trained since she was about 2.5 she has been nighttime potty trained since at least 3.5. she will be 5 in November and she wet the bed 3 nights in the last week! I don't know what to do or what's going on. She doesn't drink much after dinner. She always goes potty as part of her bedtime routine. Do I have to resort back to pull ups? Has anyone else gone through this?

No, it's comfortable. I don't think she's not wanting to get up. I think it's just not waking her up because she wakes up a few hours later and comes in to tell me she wet the bed and we have to go through the whole ordeal of getting her cleaned up and changed and changing her sheets around 4 or 5 in the morning. I know it's been a while since it happened because the pee is cool, she's just been sleeping in it.

some kids can do it from stress. if something has changed in there life recently, just plain lazy. i know that my daughter starte doing it again when i lost my son. it can be a number of things. also another could be a UTI or another infection down there. it could even be a attention thing. u never know. id just try to look into things that go on at school or day care where ever she may go just to see if there is anyone picking on her or something like that. it could be nightmares

I seriously can't think of any changes. And I am a sahm and she doesn't go to pre-school.

If it were a UTI wouldn't she be complaining of pain?

Idk, all of those things sound like they could cause bedwetting just none of them seem to relate to her. Maybe attention though.

some infections dont cause pain. just take her to the doc n get them to do a urine test on her

My 5 year went to the dr about two weeks ago and had a UTI and never said anything about it , so she might not tell you .

About a year ago , my son starting "seeing monsters " & would not get up to go to the bathroom because of it . He wouldnt even tell me he had wet the bed , I found out because the smell of his sheets . Have you asked her ?

I've asked her why she keeps wetting the bed and she just says she doesn't know and she won't do it again...

id just keep an eye on her for the time being to see how things go. take her to the doc n talk to him bout it. the doc might know something that will help u with this. every kid is going to have an accident but 3 times in a week is a little more than just an accident

I know this sounds wird but is she constipated? My 5 year old was having the same wetting problem too. I took her to the doctor and did some research and apparently if a child gets too constipated it will push on their bladder. Which would explain maybe why she wets the bed, she may not even realize it.
My daughter didn't show any signs of pain or discomfort, it took having a good eye on her to realize she was having a problem.
I have also heard the constipation/bed wetting scenario can be caused by life changes. My ex just had another baby, and this is also my daughter's 1sy year of school so we havent ruled that out yet.

I'm not sure. She goes all by herself now. I'll have to keep an eye on her when she's in the bathroom. lol.
