Any tips?

posted 15th Aug
Ok, so I need tips/advice on get to get my lil girl to sleep at night more. She sleeps amazing durning the day, and is such a good baby. But at night she is like a different daughter. It is 2am and she has been up since 10pm screaming pretty much the entire time! The neighbors probably think I am beating her! HELP please. I have rocked, fed, changed, burped, walked withher, put her in her swing. Nothing works, any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

swaddle her super tight, put her on her left side on your lap and "SHHH" in her ear louder than her screaming. Get this DVD too for more help next time!!!

Not thru the night but she used to only get up to eat, then she was right back to sleep. Now she eats, screams ntil she is ready to eat again.

have you tried leaving her for a bit when you know there is nothing wrong? like trying to get her to sooth herself?

Thanks if everything doesn't work, we may go for a car ride around the block, she seems to like to sleep there!

Yup, she seems to be frustrated with herself too! The funny thing is my mom is here visiting (staying in a hotel) she was holding her earlier, and I was saying how she doesn't sleep at night. She was sleeping for my mom, and she says " I don't believe she doesn't sleep, she is so good". I am tempted to call her and just hold the phone up to Shelby while she screams bloody murder!

Thats what I do with Andrew when he won't stop fussing. It seems to work about half the time. The rest of the time I wrap him up and then hum a song to him. That usually works to. I am so sorry you are having more trouble. Good luck. If it makes you feel any better Andrew is wide a wake right now too. He's kinda fussy but not to bad as long as I hold him and rock in this chair. Good luck.

That's great that your mom is here. I bet you will be able to squeeze in a nap tomorrow with her help.

Thanks, I wonder what happened at the hospital at nights, I can tell she is exhausted, but fighting to stay awake! They must have had parties, and she is afraid to miss it lol!!! Thanks ladies, I will try all of the above tips!

With my son, we had to wrap him up so tight that he couldnt move. Now, if you have to do that, make sure she still has enough wiggle room to breathe properly. Babies that have been in the NICU are used to the constant noise and beeping so it may just take awhile. Ty would sleep better when the TV was on. We would turn him so he couldnt see it but he could still hear the noise.

well one thing about preemies is that they are used to sleeping in the nicu where the lights are on and there is lots of noise. we went through this with maria. and finally realized she just wanted a light left on and some music on. she went right to sleep. another thing is that they are prone to ger (reflux). so make sure she is propped up very well and sleeping on their side seems to help. but i would take her to the doc if you think thats what it is, b/c they can have you use thick it or something to help keep the food out of her esophagus. hth. good luck.
